Take Me Away. Which would you prefer?

Walk Don't Run by Herb Alpert or Walk Don't Run by the Ventures?  :bleh:

Right now on The Wav, "People Make the World Go Round" by Richard Elliot from the March 2008 playlist played.
love that song!
agreed, it's my second favorite Richard Elliot song after Move on Up.

Richard Elliot does some good renditions of soul classics.

General Discussion / Re: Songs You Love To Hate
« on: August 14, 2010, 10:04:38 AM »
Hate to burst your bubble, but lots of people listen to country.

I dig Country as a change of pace, but I really can't listen to it exclusively.  I have several Country songs and CDs in my collection.

They were making fun of that Katy Perry "California Girls" song on the radio the other day.  The host was having trouble reading the lyrics because he was laughing so hard.   :rofl2:

The only country music I really like are some of the Allman Brothers songs featured on TWC.

First Eboni Deon went, now BD is gone. VB is the only Black female left on there. <_<
hence her somewhat "job security" for now. She's a good meteorologist, yes, but I think they're keeping her to fill the "black female" quota.

Yeah, you are right. What a shame. VB is still one of the remaining links to TWC's golden era.

This is getting unnerving with all the TWC OCM depatures. All the OCMs I grew up with are gone now.

I wish TWC would play some of Ryan's work from when he debuted in summer 2001.

BEST
Morning: Rock Steady (definitely song that gets you up and ready for the morning)
Daytime: Pan Funk, Take Me Away, Once in a Lifetime, Mr. Groove
Primetime: Jessica, Diamond Eyes (only jazz song on primetime)
Overnight: Thrill is Gone (perfect for overnight hours)

WORST
Morning: Daydreaming (not bad, but much more of an overnight song), Green Onions (has been on the TWC playlist several times this year, already )
Daytime: None
Primetime: Magnificent Eleven (not bad, but is overplayed!!!!!  :hammer:)
Overnight: None

HONORABLE MENTION
Walk, don't run - Herb Alpert - Think of some 60's action or beach movie anytime you hear it.  Not my style, really, but catchy.

Walk, don't run - The Ventures - Sounds like something on Spongebob. Again, not my style, but is strangely catchy.  :bleh:

Programming and Graphics / Re: Wake Up With Al

I am amazed at how much vacation time Al gets. I mean he seems to get a lot

It looks like he's off every single Monday. He as off last Monday, and now this Monday, too.

OK, so honestly, what's the purpose of "Wake up with AL" if the "star" is barely ever there? I don't watch WUWA, but from all these descriptions, it sounds like this show has really declined. Maybe it should just be renamed to "Wake up with Abrams & Bettes" to bring the A&B duo back together.

Or Wake Up with Carfagno & Bettes, because Steph seems to be on assignment a lot.

I just wish WUWA would play some music that actually sounds like TWC music, like smooth jazz, new age, and even a little soft rock.

I think the only time I watch WUWA is when Steph is filling in for  :censored: and when Mike is in studio...even then it irriates me......also WUWA's one year....also marked the day TWC offical began to die. IMO

Nah, FAAF was TWC's ultimate Jump the Shark moment, IMO.

Choosing my top two:

Morning:
Windjammer - Ryan Farish
Colortones - Ryan Farish

Daytime:
Take Me Away - Bickley Rivera
Wishbone - Physical Therapy

Primetime:
Cliffs of Dover - Eric Johnson
Jessica - The Allman Brothers Band

Overnight:
BB King - The Thrill is Gone
In This Moment - Ryan Farish

Agreed! I love all of Ryan farish's music on this playlist, but number one song on this list is definately Cliffs of Dover. I actually haven't heard Jessica yet this month. I hope it's the September 2007 cut.

I have finally heard Jessica the last two nights.
