I most certainly will not have my ISP monitoring my every online move because I download or upload copyrighted music (not that I do such a thing.) It's an invasion of my privacy!

You could have it repaired, but if it's not under warranty, the cost of the repair depends on what the problem is.  Otherwise, your only real option is to buy a new unit.  It's very hard to find VCRs for sale without DVD players these days.

Before you posted that, I was just looking around my house earlier today to see if I could find an old VCR/DVD combo, and I found one, hooked it up to my recorder, tested a VHS tape, and it still works   I'll just go ahead use the external VCR  from now on to digitize any VHS tapes I still have   until my recorder should ever break down completely, but I doubt that'll happen in the near future  :P

Recently the VCR side of my Magnavox VCR/DVD recorder combo box powers off the unit after each time I play any VHS tape I insert for about 5-10 seconds. The DVD recorder side still works okay, though

I was wondering if anybody here might have some advice on what I should do. Keep in mind that I don't want to have to spend another $160 on a new combo box

I just put a blank DVD inside my recorder and then set a timer recording for the disc at 1:28AM my time tomorrow morning. Let's just all hope TWC will leave the sole 2-minute LF alone  :P

EDIT: Just checked my recording, and it looks like TWC left the sole 2-minute flavor alone

"weather.com" returns to the logo.

Are you sure about that?   The text is still absent on my STAR.

General Discussion / Re: Commercials You Loathe
« on: February 19, 2013, 05:15:43 PM »
Another commercial I now loathe is the latest AutoNation spot. I get it, they're trying to get the word out that our local Bankston Autos in Dallas/Fort Worth is now AutoNation, but it's been (over)played on my local TV stations almost every commercial break. And why are they using a "Ghostbusters" theme?!

Bankston is now AutoNation!

We have one just like that! With the same little yellow arrow too. It goes: "If you need a car, truck or van, who you gonna call? Call Dobbs!" -_-...hate those commercials

My former hometown of Spokane has a dealership called Appleway Motors, which is owned by AutoNation and also used the same graphics and music, with lyrics that go "Who you gonna call? Appleway!" That was really annoying and I hated that ad  <_<

Sorry for double-posting, but there was a 60-second flavor at :28  :o  I think WCL may be the new WUWA   :P

So wait a minute: TWC is only showing 60-second LFs now?

Whatever happened to the days when the "LOT8s was the number 1 reason why people tune in to The Weather Channel?"  Jim Cantore said that quote in a video; I think it was the one talking about the IS transition to HD.  Guess that's all gone out the window. :(

I guess we can breathe a sigh of relief, because the 90-second flavor aired at :28 during DP. I've got a feeling that will probably change in the coming weeks and/or months.

Also, I always wondered myself what happened to those days. Nowadays I bet TWC only cares about money and ratings, and that they no longer give a hoot about their viewers wanting their Local on the 8's  :(
