Listening to Weatherscan music helps me calm my nerves during a very stressful day at work  :bang:

With Easter coming this Sunday, do any of you perform any special activities for this holiday?

Not really. I'm just gonna do nothing, like I always do on a typical weekend anyway  :P

TWC Fan Art / Re: TWCJim's Artwork
« on: March 27, 2013, 07:09:53 PM »

This artwork took me two days to make. It's a fake Weatherscan for Astoria via Charter Communications. It was recreated based on a real Wxscan image I found on SiliconDust. The radar is from weather.com, and the image of the Astoria-Megler Bridge was taken by myself a few months ago. The graphics aren't as technically accurate as the real thing, but I tried my best to re-create them as best as I can.  What do you guys think?

Are you serious? That's excellent work, pretty dead on if you ask me.

Thanks a bunch Tavores!   I was attempting to re-create the shapes and graphics using the real Wxscan image as the guide layer in Photoshop, and I have to admit that I wasn't sure what other people would think, like did I do a great job, stuff like that. Thanks again for the kind words, much appreciated  :)

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

Alright, now I must intervene so that a fight doesn't arise.  Alex, I'm not the only one making this request to you.  I received a few complaints from other members.  You have the right to express your opinions, but you've been doing it quite a lot on the same things.  You have to realize a harsh reality:  TWC has made up its mind on where it wants to go, and none of us can do anything about it.  You have to move on.  It's just that simple.

Now, I'd like all of us to focus on more positive things and realize that constant complaining will not solve anything.  It's why I'm trying to pursue expanding the forum topics here with the other moderators and administrators.  Just because the current version of TWC may be lackluster doesn't mean we can discuss other aspects of the network.  Please listen to this advice, or I'll take more serious actions.

I very much agree with Patrick

Simply complaining to TWC about their music and programming directions isn't going to change anything   We the viewers just need to accept whatever the network heads throw our way now or next, even if it sounds terrible to some. I myself have grown used to the network's changes, even though I watch a little less of the channel now then I used to  :P

No Weatherscan or AccuWeather on my TV  :(  but I do have a AM/FM/Weather radio that gets two NOAA weather stations via antenna. The reception quality is fair on both stations, but not too terrible.

Like you and a lot of other longtime viewers, it just breaks my heart that TWC no longer cares about smooth jazz music or 2-minute LOT8s   I wish I could be TWC's programming director or the person who is in charge of the LOT8s. That way, the first thing I would do is eliminate the vocal music, bring back smooth jazz, cancel all long-form shows that have nothing to do with weather, and extend the LOT8s. But that is all just a fantasy, which brings even more pain and heartbreak  :(
Why do you still watch TWC then, if I may ask, if you don't like it anymore?

Mike, I still like the network, but only just to see what my local weather is going to be via the LOT8's, despite them being 60 seconds in length and having vocal music in the background. As for the other stuff on the network, I just really don't care about that   Not only that, I don't get very many channels in my house besides TWC SD and HD. Hopefully this makes sense to you  ;)

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: General IS2 Discussion
« on: March 26, 2013, 02:00:48 PM »
There's no sign of the IS2 here.  I doubt Blacksburg will get one for another year or two given the small market and how slowly Xfinity (Comcast) is trickling out these updates.

Same here for Astoria. All if not most of the other Charter headends across Washington and Oregon (Medford, Wenatchee, etc.) have IS2 units but for some reason not yet the Charter headend in Astoria  :(  Click! Network up in Tacoma has an IS2 at their headend as well according to SiliconDust.

I didn't read your PM and didn't respond, plus you are not the first person to send me a PM here in nearly 15 months.
I didn't send you a PM more recently than that.

I must not have accidentally deleted your PM

Can't wait until this Saturday, where the high temp for Long Beach is expected to reach close to 70º!

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / LDL glitching on STAR #23550
« on: March 24, 2013, 04:57:05 PM »
Hi STAR team

The programming LDL on my IntelliSTAR has been glitching as of this morning, and continues to do so even as I speak. Each time during live programming, a second LDL has been cuing behind the glitching one. No problems on the main IS unit itself, however. Here is a video clip that I caught of the glitch this morning:

TWC IntelliSTAR LDL Glitch- Astoria, OR- March 24, 2013

The cable provider is Charter, and the ID number is 23550.

Can this be looked into?

Jim
