Here is my laptop's desktop as of August 11, 2013. That picture in the background is Blue Lake in Washington state, taken by myself a couple of years ago.

Sorry for double-posting, but I'm still having problems playing certain videos on YT using Chrome. A certain video will show the first video frame and the loading circle, and then after about 10 seconds my computer will freeze up completely, requiring a hard reboot. I tried everything I've researched and I'm still getting the same error

No problems at all with Firefox, so I'll just use that browser to play YT vids for now because I fear that my computer will freeze again if I played the videos on Chrome  :fear:  Hopefully this YT issue with Chrome will get resolved soon.

I heard a brief snippet of "Green Onions" by Booker T and the MGs playing when it was being used for a clue on Jeopardy!

Patrick emailed me and wanted me to let everyone know about his recent computer issue. After talking with Dell, they told Pat that he has a failing hard drive, so he'll be getting it replaced as it's under warranty. Until Pat gets his computer completely fixed, he'll be unavailable on the forum until sometime next week if not later.

This year just continues to go horribly for me.  My Windows 7 laptop crashed last night, and I lost everything.  All I did was close my lid for 20 minutes, but when I reopened it, everything was black.  My CPU light was off despite me moving my mouse and keyboard to wake the system up, which meant I could only pull the plug to reboot.  However, every effort I tried to repair my Windows failed, and I was forced to start all over from scratch.  Not even System Restore worked as it was wiped clean.  It has taken me 12 straight hours to get most of the basics finished.  How did my Windows get corrupted so badly?  I worry that I may need a new laptop someday as well. :(

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost all of your computer stuff, Pat  :(  I've been down that road before.

I once had an old Windows XP laptop that a friend of mine gave to me, which suddenly slowed down at some point and eventually crashed in early 2010. I also had an XP PC which also crashed three months after the laptop did. Soon after, I bought a new PC and a new laptop (both of which are run on Windows 7). I also bought an external hard drive, so that way I can backup my stuff in case if any of my computers look like they're dying.

Not a pretty sight to see when computers take their last breaths and then crash

I've been having some big problems with Chrome the past couple of days. Every time I load certain YouTube videos, I see the loading circle snake. The video doesn't play, and about 10 seconds later, my computer freezes and I'm forced to manually reboot it (can't Ctrl+Alt+Del or anything else after freezing).

I've tried everything (disabled certain plugins, disabled Chrome's hardware acceleration, tried getting help from online, etc.) but I still keep getting computer freezes. Anybody have any idea on what I should next?

Please note that I don't wish to use to Firefox or IE because those browsers are way slower than Chrome IMO.

My system is a Windows 7 64-bit PC, if that helps. The version of Chrome that I'm having trouble with is the recent version (June or July 2013).

Did you try deleting the cache? My Chrome sometimes locks up on certain webpages, but after I delete the cache, it doesn't do it anymore.

I tried clearing my Chrome's cache, but my computer still freezes up after I tried viewing a particular YT video afterward  :(

I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome, but that didn't work either.

TWC - Starkville IntelliStar - Moon Phases/Mosaic Radar

Wow, that's the highest IntelliSTAR ID number I've seen!  :o

That unit is now in the database, along with Zach's video links.
