My three-week vacation from work is coming to a close as I'm scheduled to go back to work on Monday, and I'm not ready to do so.    Seems like it was only yesterday when I was driving on over to my folks' house on the other side of the state. Good thing I came back home just in time because now my 11-year-old car won't start at all!    Doesn't really matter though. I work from home and I can pretty much walk anywhere that I need to go to in my small town until my car gets repaired at some point. 

EDIT: Turned out that my car needed a new battery. So I was able to get a neighbor of mine to jump start my car so I could take it to a local NAPA Auto Parts store where I got a new battery installed.

I got bored, so I decided to get a little creative and made still concepts of an imaginary Local on the 8s intro, using a couple of pictures that I took of the Pacific Ocean a few days ago.







For the LOT8s logo, I couldn't find a decent size of it anywhere on the web, so instead, I attempted to re-create the logo myself. The font I used was Interstate Regular, and by a lucky guess, it was the correct font used for the real logo! 


There you have it.

Hard to believe that today is the anniversary of 9/11.    It was 12 years ago that two hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Center in NYC, killing 3000 people.    I was in the seventh grade at the time and I remember watching the coverage on TV at home and at school, I almost cried when I saw the Twin Towers collapse to the ground. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families whose loved ones were killed on that tragic day.

Charter cable in the town of Grand Coulee, Washington no longer shows any LOT8s whatsover    The headend used to show the WeatherSTAR 4000 up in Omak but as of now it only shows satellite LFs and LDL. I don't believe this is a LOT8s outage, though, as Grand Coulee and Omak are two separate headends (TWC is on channel 12 in Grand Coulee while up in Omak it's on channel 14). I'm guessing that the Omak TWC feed must have been simulcasted in Grand Coulee until 2008, when the GC headend discontinued its digital tier package and the TWC feed must have became it's own separate feed in GC.

Because of this discovery today at my grandmother's house in Grand Coulee, I don't know what the fate is of Omak's WeatherSTAR 4000 unit    but I guess it was worth finding out for myself.

Here is my last recorded video clip of Omak's 4000 unit from six and a half years ago.
