My Seattle Mariners came dangerously close to making it to the playoffs, but after a heart-piercing defeat by Oakland last night (score was 9 to 8 in the 10th inning) their postseason hopes quickly crumbled to dust. :(  But overall, I'd say this was probably a pretty great season for the M's  despite it now being 15 years since the last time they made the playoffs. Oh well, there's always next season. :itsok:

Apologies for double-posting BTW.

Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion

Just thought I should point something out here I've noticed on TWC recently. During an LF, if the winds are calm, the text no longer says "Calm", but rather "N 0", presumably spelling out the word "no". The LDL, however, will still say "Calm". If there is a wind speed, the LF still reads "[number] mph" as before.

Example pics with the wind text circled:

If TWC decided to bring back the Record Temperature product, here is my concept of what that might look like today on the IntelliSTAR 2 HD, XD and Jr:

FYI, that was an actual record high, set just last week.

NOAA Weather Radio- Severe Thunderstorm Warning- Aug. 7, 2016 (Audio)

Something I put up today. The new NOAA Weather Radio voice can't seem to correctly say the warning text as follows, "...located near Nordman, or 30 miles west of Bonners Ferry." There's no such place as Nordman, Oregon!

OCMs & Personalities / Re: Dave Schwartz Battling Cancer

Oh no! Dave was one of my favorite OCMs and I really enjoyed the way he presented on-air forecasts with a little sense of humor on the side. My thoughts are with his family and friends during this very difficult and emotional time. R.I.P. Mr. Schwartz. :(

Weatherscan Discussion / Re: Weatherscan Topic
« on: July 18, 2016, 12:18:07 PM »
While I'm quite surprised that Weatherscan still has some signs of life, I bet it'll probably be another few years or so before the channel ultimately fades into history. The facts of that are obvious, Weatherscan still runs on 12 or 13-year-old computers plus there has been a significant carriage drop of the channel over the past 5 years; e.g. Verizon FiOS as well as Comcast's inter-mountain and west coast markets. Despite all that, I myself was lucky to even see Weatherscan in person, of course back when I used to live in Spokane and had Comcast. Now that that's long gone, I can always look back at the many DVD recordings I have of the channel as well as listen to the entire music playlist.

Programming and Graphics / Re: Weekly Top Ten Countdown
« on: July 08, 2016, 12:02:36 PM »
Personally, I don't have a problem with shows that are actually about weather, albeit I very rarely watch them. IIRC, The Weather Channel has said that those other "weather" shows (e.g. Fat Guys In The Woods or Prospectors) will not be getting renewed for another season. Still, I've seen a lot of posts on TWC's Facebook page from many angry and upset people (not naming names) who constantly complain and rant about the lack of live weather programming during weeknights and weekends and tell others to switch to alternatives such as WeatherNation or AccuWeather. Seriously, when will they ever learn that frequent complaining doesn't make things go faster if at all?
