IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: General IS2 Discussion
« on: November 02, 2014, 01:13:54 PM »
Seeing that almost everyone here now has the IntelliSTAR 2 installed at their cable headends, I'm still amazed that my local headend still has not gotten one. I doubt Charter will get an IS2 within the next year.   I guess they either can't afford to invest in one or they're just not interested in one at this time, who knows?  :dunno:

That is weird, for all Charter headends down this way have the IS2.

A lot of Charter headends here in the northwest (e.g. The Dalles, Kennewick, Wenatchee) also have IS2 units but for some reason not yet Astoria. So do a few Comcast headends in this region, like Seattle and Vancouver (Washington).

Did anybody with a Weatherscan see any DST glitches last night?

Sorry for double posting BTW.

Since today is Halloween, here's a moment from four years ago on TWC when Kelly Cass wore something green in front of a green screen to make it look like that only her head and hands appeared on camera. Even to this day, I still get a chuckle or two from watching this every time.

I've been dealing with a bear problem in my area recently, and last night was no different.

Around 11PM or so last night, I heard a noise and looked outside my window and there was a bear who tipped over my garbage can and tried to take the trash that was in it. I yelled "Hey!" at the bear and then it ran off with whatever it could take. Afterwards I walked outside, cleaned up the mess and picked up the can that was tipped over. No more than a hour or so later, the bear came back, tipped the can over again and tried to steal more trash. I yelled again at the bear and it ran away with more garbage.

Then this morning, I walked around and found my trash in some nearby woods, cleaned it up and then put it back in my trash can. Afterwards I put ammonia inside and outside my trash can to keep the bears away. It worked before, and I'm certain that it will work again. Man, what a rough night it was for me!

Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion
« on: October 25, 2014, 01:48:11 PM »
I'm now able to see the 36-hour forecast on my STAR (no weather bulletin or local radar) but the hashtag screen is still missing.

TWC IntelliSTAR- Astoria, OR- Oct. 24, 2014- 8:58AM PDT

EDIT: The slightly updated graphics are now working properly on my STAR.

Seeing the end of the national LF is a lot better than seeing the hashtag screen IMO.

I agree.

Also, I caught this on my LF this morning:

Seems that text is only used instead of the hashtag whenever there is a weather alert. Also, the text on the advisory scroll is now black. HUGE improvement over the previous eye-hurting red color.

A possible funnel cloud or tornado touched down in Longview, Washington about an hour or so ago. There was reports of damage to some local buildings with this storm.

UPDATE: The NWS in Portland confirmed that this was a weak tornado.

Happy birthday Martin!  :)  Hope today was a good one!  :twothumbs:

Seems to me that TWC likes to fight fire with fire with these so-called "weather" shows, adding more junk and renewing the ratings-questionable junk that's on now. When will the network learn that this strategy never works?

TWC IntelliSTAR with updated graphics- Astoria, OR- Oct. 21, 2014- 8:18AM PDT

I'm not all too impressed with the updated graphics.   Also, the hashtag screen is missing on my end (just cuts to the satellite LF).

Have to agree with Tavores on the hashtag screen: it is useless. IMO TWC could have put something else in the time frame, like the Local Weather ID number or even increase the timing on the 7-day forecast. But for a useless hashtag screen? Terrible!  :hammer:
