Anyone ever watched the original 'Star Trek' TV series? Leonard Nimoy, who played Mr. Spock on the show, passed away today at the age of 83.

anyway, moving on, i was channel surfing and ran into The Weather Channel HD Feed on Dish ch. 214 (Dish is my provider) which right now is airing "Highway Thru Hell", and i noticed now you see the the time and temp for all the cities in the US on the bottom half of th screen during the show and even on the ad break, the local forcecast is still shown. i checked the SD feed too and it's only on the HD Feed. in fact i have taken 2 pics of this, one from when the ads were on the other when the show was back from commercial. these two pics were taken from my tablet's webcam pointed at my TV set, so sorry for the quality

Wow, interesting pics!    I guess Dish must have gotten an IntelliSTAR 2 unit installed at their headend, specifically to only display the national weather info during long-form on the HD feed. I wonder if it's possible for TWC to send out an update to the Dish SD IntelliSTAR (if they still have it) to do the same thing during long-form on the SD channel.

Echoing Tavores, it does make perfect sense that TWC is slowly replacing all IntelliSTAR units with IS2 Jr units, considering that the IS is about 12 years old and is constantly glitching. Also, that could explain why all if not many Comcast and Bright House headends who have adopted the IS2 replaced their SD TWC feeds with HD feed simulcasts.

I finally managed to purchase a new vehicle this weekend, a used 2013 Nissan Altima. Last week, I took my old car, a 2002 Ford Taurus, to a local repair shop because of shaking, when the mechanics there said the car could not be fixed and that I needed to get a new one. After spending several stressful hours at a dealership, I eventually found and purchased the Altima. I'm glad I finally had the guts to get a new vehicle    even though I still need to pay about $220 a month for it for the next six years.

The Patriots defeated the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX, final score 28-24. I thought Seattle really was going to make it during those final moments of the game, but at around 20 seconds to go in the fourth quarter, the Pats' rookie CB Malcolm Butler intercepted the ball at the Hawks' 1-yard line. 

Despite Seattle's loss, I'd say this was a pretty interesting game overall.  I was surprised the Hawks made it this far, but they worked real hard until the end. They had a terrific season, and I hope it goes down well again for them next year.
