My Charter headend still has the IS but no IS2 yet.  Chances are they'll probably finally get an IS2 before the October deadline. I wonder if Charter will also get an IS2 Jr as well, but they'll probably just simulcast the IS2/HD feed onto the SD channel once the IS2 is installed.

Sounds like The Weather Channel is retiring all of the remaining IntelliSTAR units, requiring all cable headends who still have them to upgrade to an IS2 and/or an IS2 Jr by this October. Better enjoy the IS while it's still around, I suppose.

What if Gannett Company owned The Weather Channel? If Gannett did ever buy TWC, the graphics would probably be changed to match the graphics on the other Gannett-owned TV news stations. Here are my concepts of what that might look like.

For these concepts, the TWC feed would be shrinked slightly to reveal another TWC logo as well as the 'Local On The 8s' logo (old one) on the sidebar.

All of these concept designs were created using Adobe Photoshop CS5. Everything was done from scratch, using a screenshot image of a real Gannett-owned TV news station as the guide layer. It took me pretty much all afternoon to make all of these images.

And there you have it. What do you guys think?

Blues legend B.B. King has passed away at the age of 89.
