Local Forecast / Re: IntelliSTAR units to be retired this October...???
« on: August 28, 2015, 01:17:39 PM »
My IntelliSTAR unit have changed. I notice that last night when the ldl bar looks kinda different. I'll send the video's later on today. Now we're hearing Jim Cantore's voice now.

What you have now is the IntelliSTAR 2 Jr, which uses Cantore's narrations. My cable headend still has the IS1 which uses Allen Jackson's narrations.

Looks like the IS1 did not receive the weather advisory scroll graphics update from two months ago, as I saw this Weather Statement on my still-in-use IS1 just minutes ago:

Since the IS1s are about to be retired soon, I'm guessing TWC must have stopped any further updates on these 12-year-old units? :dunno:

My laptop's desktop as of this evening. The background picture was taken last week at the Whitman Mission Site near Walla Walla, Washington.

Couldn't agree more with Eric. In the event of The Weather Channel being sold to someone else, chances are that the programming direction is not going to change one bit.  I don't believe the fact that NBC 'destroyed' The Weather Channel with constant "weather" related shows; e.g. shows like 'Fat Guys In The Woods' or 'Prospectors'. Whomever is in charge of TWC's programming is probably to blame for the channel's downfall, but continuous arguing and backlash from viewers isn't going to get TWC to reverse their programming decisions. What's done is done.

Anyone here have any thoughts about The Weather Channel's TV promos for the new Wunderground show? Here's one of them:

Hot Tub Weather Machine #wutv

That promo in particular, I actually hate the most. I mean really, a fart joke?

My question is why did TWC leave that corner of the HD feed graphics blank?  :dunno: Clearly they could have put something else there for both satellite and local, like maybe a Doppler radar box, similar to what they did with the SD feed 1/3-length LDL back in 2010.

My laptop has Windows 7, and I have the W10 free upgrade icon on my taskbar. I thought about upgrading for some time, but due to personal reasons I'm choosing not to upgrade at this time. Besides, Windows 7 is running much faster for me than it did just over a month ago. I had AVG AntiVirus which slowed my computer down to almost at a standstill, but afterwards I uninstalled the program and replaced it with SuperAntiSpyware. Since then my computer has been running at normal speed with almost no slowdowns.

Just a heads-up for YouTubers out there: if you have uploaded any WeatherNation TV videos, please delete them now or you may get a copyright strike. My YouTube account got hit with a strike today (my first) as a result of a claim from WeatherNation on one of my videos, so I have deleted that video along with the other WN videos I've uploaded.

Yuck! That set does look terrible!  Based on the walls and the wooden desk, this set kinda looks like it was converted from an old bar or pizza parlor. The 'Twister' pinball machine itself probably came from one of those places or who knows where else.
