WeatherSTAR Tech Support / IntelliSTAR #23550 glitching
« on: May 04, 2012, 09:35:14 AM »
Hi STAR team

The IntelliSTAR in Astoria, Oregon appears to be glitching. On the :28 and :58 flavors, the air quality forecast product skips directly to the tides product (in other words the marine forecast product isn't showing at all and is being skipped) and towards the end of the LF, both the blue LDL and the sponsorship bug are running the satellite LF for the remainer of the STAR's normal run over the satellite LF, which is generally the last few seconds of the LF. Other flavors of the STAR appear to be working properly.

The cable provider is Charter and the ID number is 23550.

Can this error be looked into?

Thanks,
Jim

EDIT: I was finally able to post the video of the glitch, shown below:

The IntelliSTAR in Astoria, OR isn't showing the marine forecast product and instead skips directly from the air quality forecast to the tides forecast, and the blue LDL and the sponsorship bug (The Facebook/Twitter and others) are running over the satellite LF for the last few seconds (picture shown on attachment.) Anyone else with coastal STARs experiencing this glitch?

I signed up for the emulator earlier this week. I had troubles with the program at first, but then I eventually figured it out for myself. The emulator works fine for me

My favorite part of this video is at 0:28, when they are interviewing someone (I think he's famous, but I don't recognize him :blushing:).

Interviewee: "But I don't watch [The Weather Channel] for the weather..."
Al Roker: "Then what DO you watch [TWC] for?"
Interviewee: "The news...and the sports."

Watch the person be really famous and I don't even recognize him. LOL. How embarrasing.

That's Will Ferrell. He starred in comedy films such as Blades of Glory and Step Brothers.

I've been getting thunderstorms here and there, but none have been severe

My county has not been under one severe thunderstorm warning since November 16, 2010, it really sucks

If anybody have seen my videos over at YouTube, you might have listened to all 33 Weatherscan music files, uninterrupted and uncut. For those who haven't seen the videos yet, here's a little background on each and every one of them...

Last year, I ripped all 33 tracks, all directly from my cable box, at least three times in order to completely remove the Vocal Local narrations that constantly interrupt this music. Using the audio-editing program Audacity, I attempted to replace certain sections of a recording that had the narrations with the very same section on another recording that doesn't have the narration. It was a hard task, but it was fun doing so.

I would like to offer everyone here MP3s of my rips of all of the Weatherscan music. If you click on either of my videos on YT, you'll find a download link in their infoboxes.

I would post the link here on the site, but I wasn't sure if the mods would approve since full music downloading is frowned upon here.

I heard most of "Layla" by Derek and the Dominos on KKZX-FM (98.9) while I driving home after dining out with my girlfriend and some friends of ours.

General Discussion / Commercials You Love
« on: April 29, 2012, 11:20:35 PM »
There is a topic about commercials that you loathe, but what about the commercials that you love, old and/or current?

I remember this one ad for Portable On Demand Storage (PODS) where this moving guy has trouble pulling out the ramp from his truck, and at the end, he's excited that he has the ramp halfway open, but then it pulls back, and the guy just gives up. That one made me laugh  :rofl2:

I also like the Allstate ads with that Mayhem character. Those make me laugh also
