"Layla" by Derek and the Dominos -  The song was chosen by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of their "500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll", and Rolling Stone ranked the song at #27 on their list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". "Layla" was ranked #16 on VH1's "100 Greatest Songs of Rock and Roll", while Clapton's and Allman's guitar solos earned "Layla" a spot on Guitar World's list of the "100 Greatest Guitar Solos" at #14. This is awesome! I might look into doing this for StormChaseTN, if you don't mind.

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Re: CC Issue on STAR 24629

We have the same issue in Memphis. Our issue is that the Downtown HiRAD site is used on the CC screen and on the LDL, and the airport's HiRAD site is used on the maps. These two locations are upwards of 8 miles apart.

My suggestion is using the airport site for both reports, and changing Arlington on the 8-City CC report to 'Downtown'.

Emulator Videos / Re: My own emulator

Can I give you some corrective criticism? Have an image of an actual warning crawl next to your emulation. Then, you can better see the font size. Not bashing you, I had the same problem way back when ;). Also, here is the actual warning crawl. Be sure to give credit to weatherstooge.

General Discussion / Re: NBC Weather Plus Discussion
« on: December 27, 2011, 01:30:33 PM »
WRG-TV 5 Memphis, TN still has Weather Plus, but it is not as reliable since NBC discontinued that service. It only displays a national doppler radar feed as well the temperature. The only thing local that it displays in the doppler.

Since the thread is bumped now, I'd better chime in. First off, where are you getting this info? At the time, it was WMC-TV that had WeatherPlus, not WRG. We don't even have a WRG. We do, however, have a WREG which is the local CBS affiliate. It was also much more sophisticated then what you were explaining. It was in pretty bad shape, but not as bad as you lead to believe. It showed temperatures and radar, as you stated, but also showed airport delays, radar/satellite, travel forecast, and a few other products. It also had a problem with the current conditions on the left side, as no icons were present, and never were to my knowledge.

In October 2011, WeatherPlus in Memphis was scheduled to be slated and replaced with BounceTV. A change of plans called for Comcast to move WGN to WeatherPlus' place. BounceTV was put on channel 906.

Here's my desk setup. (from left to right) my iMac is far left, then a microphone for recording stuff, NOAA Weather Radio, 19" TV Display, HP G60 laptop for making graphics for StormChaseTN.com (check out the site here). I then have some pens, pencils, etc. in a little spinny thing.

EDIT: I had to put on the flash because the room is dimly lit. Sorry that the image is kinda washed out ;(

I managed to open up a Steve Jobs iPhone case, Apple T-Shirt, TIMEX Watch, a flexible tripod, mousepad, a telescope, and a Canon Rebel EOS Rebel T3 DSLR camera!

I got all of this stuff last night, we eat Christmas dinner and open gifts from family on Christmas Eve, and then just relax on Christmas Day. When I was younger, I would also open gifts from "Santa" on Christmas Day.

WHBQ (107.5, The Q) does that sometimes with Maney and Alexis Grace (yes, the one that was on American Idol. She's a local radio DJ!) in the morning. The last song that I can remember them doing it on was 'Good Feeling' by Flo Rida. I don't remember what they call it though
