WeatherSTAR Tech Support / #24745 Issue
« on: June 12, 2014, 03:01:32 PM »
Haven't been around here in a while...but had to check in to report an issue.

My IntelliStar has been showing a black screen with the LDL for over 3 hours now. No local forecasts, no programming, no commercials. Just a black screen with the LDL. Since we don't yet have the IS2 on HD, the HD channel is fine as is Weatherscan. It's just the SD channel.

Info
STAR ID: 24745
City: Memphis
Provider: Comcast

Network Weather Set To Launch October 2014 New 24-Hour Weather Service Will Be Broadcast Nationally

Atlanta, Ga. (August 7, 2013) — It was announced today that Network Weather, a new 24-hour weather station, will launch October 2014, appearing nationally via cable television and broadband Internet providers.

The Network Weather team has recruited veteran meteorologists Dave Schwartz and Rich Johnson, whose combined experience at The Weather Channel totals more than 50 years. Viewers who watched them during that period know that Dave and Rich are passionate about their profession. “What fires me up is the drama of weather. Both writing and speaking about my wonder and passion for this truly awesome field is something I just love to do,” says Schwartz. Network Weather’s segments will be designed for what viewers want—live, weather-centered programming. “One of the most exciting times of my 30-year career as a meteorologist was helping The Weather Channel get off the ground. I hope to be a resource for Network Weather to achieve the same success,” says Johnson.

Also joining Network Weather is meteorologist Mark Mathis, who has over 20 years of on-air experience with several television networks. “I try to have fun with the weather when the actual weather warrants it, and people seem to have responded positively,” says Mathis.

Network Weather will offer current weather segments, forecasts, and features to its viewers in an engaging, informative, and entertaining way. “Weather is such a rich topic that even on a so-called ‘slow weather day’ we’ll show you how exciting and compelling it can be,” says Schwartz. Network Weather executives are currently working with national advertisers to sponsor this unique and valuable programming. To learn more about Network Weather, LLC, please contact Randy Davies, Media Relations, by mail at 2107 N. Decatur Road, Suite 151, Decatur, GA 30033, by phone at (845) 562-1218, or by email at networkweatherllc@gmail.com. Visit Network Weather on

This is great news and I wish them the best of luck! So excited that we will be able to see Dave and Rich on TV again soon.

Forecasting / Severe Weather Event - April 7-11, 2013
« on: April 06, 2013, 01:13:23 PM »
Tuesday definitely looks like the "big day". It looks like I'll be getting in on the action as well come Wednesday evening.

Here's my sounding for Wednesday evening. Notice the lack of a huge cap, and the shearing of the winds. I'm thinking Moderate Risk for sure, possibly High Risk.

Wasn't sure where to put this...the mods may consider making a child board for winter storms.

According to Stephanie Abrams' Facebook page, TWC is now calling this Nor'Easter "Athena".

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Post removed...?
« on: July 10, 2012, 02:02:40 PM »
I replied to Kyle's post in the General TWC Discussion (the one where he said Al wasn't a meteorologist) with the emoticon ":rofl2:". An hour later, my post was removed. The rules state not to use single emoticons repeatedly as a way to inflate your post count, and that wasn't what I was doing at all. If there was ever an issue with any posts of mine needing to be removed, I was always contacted by a moderator before the deletion of the post. This time, that wasn't the case. Most of all, I didn't see anything wrong with my post in the first place

You read right, TWC announced this morning that it will be acquiring Wunderground.

Also, mods, if you feel that I posted it in the wrong place, feel free to move it.

TWC Fan Art / Trevor's New Artwork
« on: June 11, 2012, 02:58:02 PM »
Some of you may have seen my old artwork thread, but I've decided to create a new one. The reason being because the artwork in the old thread was from 1-2 years ago, and it wasn't the best. I've started taking time on my emulations, so I created another thread.

With that being said, here is a WeatherStar XL Weather Bulletins screen that I have been working on in the past hour. This is the first time that I haven't used previously made graphics, so everything (minus the TWC logo) was made from scratch by me. I'm especially happy about how the warning crawl turned out.

This is all current, up-to-date information as of the time seen on the emulation.
