Help and Support / Key Reset
« on: January 10, 2011, 11:13:10 AM »
Good Morning.

May I have a key reset on CINE ID: Caladbolg.  It has been awhile since I last tried out the emulator and would like to give it another go.  I have built a new machine since and reset would much appreciated.

Take care.

Hey TWCFreak.  I've seen your youtube channel before, nice videos.  I've tried on Win7 x86/x64 and Win7 x64 SP1 pre-beta, same error. Given recent forum posts in seems a new version will be out relatively soon so I can wait until to see if that corrects the error I am getting.  Until then I might play around with some settings but I'd rather just wait then try troubleshooting this again.

Same thing here.  Followed the newly posted Win7 setup procedure and it launched for the first time yesterday.  It worked flawlessly yesterday and most of today.  I fire up it now and I get the exact same error "Error: Access violation at 0x004025AC (tried to write to 0x004025AC), program terminated."   This maybe the exact error that prevented me from ever being able to run it back in January I think until I was randomly browsing the forums the other day and saw the new instructions.  Martin tossed me a new key the other night and I gave it shot and it launched.  Between then and now nothing has changed hardware, software, or OS settings-wise.  I was pretty glad to just see it in action for the first time although short lived.  These things happen and it's no biggie, but from what I was able to see I just wanted to say very impressive emulator and keep at it.  The latest videos you posted Brian showing off things to come are also quite impressive (font size revision and alert LDL ticker).  Anyway I think I'll just wait out for the next version and try again then.  Take care and best regards.

I love it!!  Questions:

1. When the text finishes scrolling (I'm assuming twice through), does it return to the normal LDL?
2. Is it possible to program the name (type) of advisory into the bar text instead of "Non-Precipitation Advisory"?
3. Does the bulletin screen stay until the watch/warning/advisory expires or is canceled?
4. Does the watch/warning/advisory get "bumped" out (replaced) by a newly-issued warning product?
5. Excellent work & great song choice!!!

Question 4  I don't receieve warning LDL's because I am directv subscriber but I have seen what are you are talking about in youtube videos.  That's probably one of my favorite features of the actual weatherscan.  Similar program I use inconjucntion with GRLevel3 outputting to my tube TV is WxScroll (freeware premanent watch/warning/advisory LDL, written in java).  You can choose your county or multiple ones and customize which warnings.  Haven't checked in awhile for an update though.  Last time I played with it I saw it go from severe thunderstorm warning but halfway through the bulletin it switched to special weather statement regarding the warning expiring due to the storm falling below severe limits.  Only thing really missing was customizable alert, it uses a windows default sound instead....I had my ws4000, star xl, wsxl, intellistar, and EAS SAME header alert tones ready for use =p

;p It works.  Finally have it running for the first time on my pc.  Brian and Martin thank you both.

Good afternoon.  Possible to get a new key and try to get it running again?  Martin last time we tried a direct connection to see if you could get it running on my PC but we couldn't.  Completely forgot was to suppose to follow up with you and try again as running as admin and non admin changed the hardware key and last we left off it was invalidated.  Anyway I've built a new PC since and if possible would like a new key and second shot at the emulator.  CINE name is Caladbolg.  Off topic but check this out

its by Weather Central.  Just requires an internet connection and after registering on their site I was able to look at a promo video.  Fully customize able.  Tried inquiring about it but since I'm not in any media/broadcast field I never heard anything back.  Anyone know out of just curiosity what it costs?  I'm already assuming expensive and not that I'd be able to buy it just wanted to know what it runs if anyone was ever able to inquire and get a response.

No luck with that either.  I've also tried running the whole process start to finish as admin with no luck.  Martin tried helping me out the other night with TeamViewer connection also with no luck.  Same error.  Also, you mentioned that it is not allowing the program to write back files to its own directory, does this include the key+hardware ID info as well? WSXL.exe will report the key is valid and has been stored first launch, after the crash we I try to relaunch it asks for the key again and reports invalid after that.  Martin regenerated my key while we were troubleshooting and after the first attempt it will keep asking and report invalid.

Same situation.  Always get runtime error.  Followed instructions exactly.  Have tried running everything start to finish as admin.  Originally tried on Win7 x64, setup a dual boot with Win7 x86, same error.  Have tried compatibillity mode as well as admin, nada.  Any ideas?

Hello,

Received my CINE account log on last night.  Follow the instructions step by step.  Upon first launch of WeatherScan Local XL and entering of name and key, key was accepted but before the actual program launched I received "Error: Access violation at <random memory address> (program failed to write to <same random memory address> program terminated."  Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, tried to launch the program in compat mode but that changed the hardware id the program generated and has invalidated my original key
I believe.  Seeing as the program failed to write to a specific address the only thing I could think of was my hardware dep setting is for all apps, I changed that back to the default windows system programs and services only and upon launch I now get the program splash screen telling me it's updating and to stand by for my local forecast ;p followed by the program terminating with the error   "Run-time error -2147220850 (80040283) File Open Error" >.<  Any ideas? at this point I do not know if my key is still valid.  Also I don't know if it will help but I have nothing 64 bit OS I am dependent on, I can switch to Win7 x86 if need be.
