I wonder if that means we'll be seeing the full weekday schedule of FO/WUWA/YWT/DP tomorrow.

I tuned into TWC for the first time in a while and caught them announcing this during the Tropical Update. He starts tomorrow morning (August 5th).

I kinda wish TWC would just make the full jump into all long form rather than keeping a shell of its former self hanging around.

Basically, if it weren't for the high ratings they get during hurricane and blizzard coverage, I'm sure they would eliminate all live programming.

But since these forums are technically part of TWCC, it doesn't really seem the same as linking to an external site. I thought we were the official forums of TWC Classics.

Everything Else TWC / Re: TWC Acquires....Wunderground!?!?!?!

I sense that things will remain the same for 1-3 years, but then wunderground.com will simply be turned into a redirect to weather.com

Remember when TWC acquired WeatherBonk in 2007 or 2008? They shut them down in early 2011. That's pretty much how all of these transactions go. Companies usually only buy direct competitors with the goal to shut them down and acquire whatever trademarks and patents they may possess. There's often a contractual agreement to continue to operate the purchased property and to employ the former ownership for 3 years, after which point the owners are released, and the site is shut down.

Most channels abbreviate their name when they depart from their original format and enter into more general interest programming. Examples include The Learning Channel changing to TLC, Game Show Network changing to GSN, and Headline News changing to HLN.

With TWC launching even more hours of non-weather-related long form programming later in the year, it might make sense to drop "weather" from the channel name as the channel continues to become more and more like every other channel on cable.

I remember when MSNBC used to have news in the primetime hours, but then they eliminated it in favor of talk shows and long-form. Headline News used to have news 24/7, but then they filled primetime with all talk shows.

I expect the same thing to happen when TWC expands long-form to three hours. Weather Center Live might disappear, and all live programming during primetime might cease. Live shows will probably only air from 4AM - 5 PM except for hurricane coverage and select severe weather outbreaks.

It's Steph in NYC and Mike in ATL from 7AM-9AM. Someone else will likely take Steph's place at 9AM while Mike continues, right?

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys!

I haven't been around lately because I haven't watched TWC in about two years. The current state of TWC just doesn't do anything for me. :(

By the way, the Digital Media Center is where the Weekend View set used to be. The 3D key wall is probably where the normal key wall used to be on the Weekend View set.

Take a look at this comparison pic I made last year.

Happy birthday, Jesse! Man...1.7 cat years? That's old.

From watching First Outlook today, it looks to me like they may have removed a section of the set immediately to the right of the FO desk. Are they slowly but surely revamping the design of the entire studio?

EDIT: After seeing a wider shot, it's actually a giant black rectangular box that stretches from floor to ceiling in front of the wall. The wall is still there. What could the giant black box be for?
