Programming and Graphics / Re: Wake Up With Al

It just caught me off guard. I can avoid the show, but not the constant ad campaign - and then there is was on the forum banner. Being new here I didn't realize that the logo changed throughout the day. That is a cool feature and great artwork.

I can understand the frustrations with the constant ad campaign, but WUWA is here to stay based on the ratings so far.  Jesse has the banner logos accurately corresponding with the current TWC segments, so you can watch them change and know what's on the air now based on the designs.
Well it may be for the short time anyway. Looks like NBC is for sale: http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/367017-Buying_Into_Big_Media_s_Recovery.php

From what I've read, Comcast intends on keeping much of the same people in charge of NBC, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

How is Day Planner today? Are they still using the crappy production format, or are they back to the old one?

Let's say they havent been using DP music afaik.
DP was produced Spring/Summer 2009 style today with all production music and with no thick dots on the BBOD. It must've been done by the old DP crew or maybe the FO crew.

The logo has already gone green on the HD LF. I'd expect the other instances of the logo to change at the top of the hour.

Everything Else TWC / Re: Ray Stagich Leaving Sunrise Weather?

Ray was on Sunrise Weather and early Weekend View today since Mike Seidel and Jeff Morrow are both off because of their field work all week.

I'm not convinced that Ray is here to stay; rather, I'm under the impression that Ray will only work Sunrise Weather as a fill-in in the event that both Mike and Jeff are off as they were today. Only time will tell.

That sounds like a long time to have the logo up. Why not start it around the middle of the month (like the 14th) when TWC starts acknowledging the holidays?

Programming and Graphics / TWC going all long-form Thanksgiving night
« on: November 13, 2009, 10:54:48 PM »
A lot of you might remember last year's plans to show nothing but long-form on Christmas Day; well, as it turns out, TWC will be implementing half of that plan this Thanksgiving. According to the Zap2It guide, TWC will be airing nothing but Tornado Road from 7PM ET to 4 AM ET on Thanksgiving night.

To go along with this, the 7PM WC on Black Friday will be replaced by a repeat of Future Earth, followed by the March of the Penguins movie.

They only showed the LFs that were a part of the movie, which were at weird times that corresponded to the naturally odd times of the commercial breaks in the movie.

Interestingly, TWC started PME at 2 PM ET today instead of 3 PM ET. This is making me think that they're probably going to start WC w/Cantore & Steele one or two hours early. (either at 6 PM or 5 PM ET) This is likely being done because of TWC's plans to still show the movie at 8 PM. They want their signature Cantore & Steele show to still get maximum airtime given the weather situation.

Everything Else TWC / Ray Leaving Sunrise Weather?
« on: November 07, 2009, 03:59:03 PM »
I can't imagine Ray getting promoted to any other shift; everything seems to be taken, and I don't picture Ray fitting into the daytime shows where you have to be all serious in your presentation.

NBC-owned TWC has a tendency of getting rid of OCMs who show personality, it seems. Looks like this might be another occurrence of that.

Has anyone noticed that Pm Edition and Day Planner on Weekdays are now master controlled?
AFAIK, nothing is master controlled anymore; it's likely an inexperienced operator using OverDrive in a secondary control room.

Programming and Graphics / Re: The Weather Channel adds a movie night
« on: October 21, 2009, 06:23:35 PM »
According to my guide, back to back episodes of Surviving the Elements will air from 1-4 AM on Saturday the 31st.

AFAIK, nothing is done by Master Control these days. It's probably an inexperienced person using OverDrive in one of the small control rooms
Isn't the overnight Weather Center and early Weekend View (4:30-7) mastered?

No, it's this guy (or somebody else on Monday and Tuesday) using OverDrive in a small control room.

Then again, it's entirely possible that Ed has been reassigned between now and then, but you get the idea. :P
