That's pretty amazing that we get to go without the LDA on the "main" shows now! I really didn't think they'd do something like this. Hopefully it's permanent.

It wasn't dual feed; it was nationally televised. I was watching it on satellite.

Like they just said at the end of PM Edition, "Stay safe out there, we'll be back with you tomorrow"

It doesn't matter that there are 10 active tornado warnings. If it's on a weekend, TWC couldn't care less about it. As we all know, weather doesn't happen on weekends.

The average viewer wants to see Storm Stories, When Weather Changed History, Cantore Stories, etc.

Well, it's weird how the design of the long form LDL is inconsistent with the LDA. You'd think they'd aim for a uniform appearance across the board.

The big LDA got fixed at the start of 6 PM ET PM Edition. When the LDA first came on, it was still frozen on Chicago, then it advanced to Cincinnati (with Memphis listed as the next city due up), and the data was still from Friday. Then it jumped to Memphis with live data, and everything was fine from there.

Hmm, I saw some LFs starting with the regional obs screen this morning, but I didn't really think much of it. Haven't checked since then, though.

Zach, is the clock accurate on your receiver when this is happening? I have the same receiver, and lately during the morning hours, the receiver's clock will start to run slow by a few minutes, causing the LF timing to be screwed up. The clock fixes itself during the afternoon, or it can be fixed immediately by resetting the receiver.

On the other hand, I think I've seen a glitch like what you've described even when the clock is accurate, so maybe there's two separate glitches at hand here, and maybe the one you're seeing is the one not related to the clock. That would be especially true if the glitch you're seeing only happens at :18/:48. I don't think the clock would only happen to affect those two LFs. :P

So the small LDA is/was screwed up, too? Did they fix it by the end of Weekend Now?

I find this "trial run" odd because it's basically impossible to provide live forecasts like this to every major market. I guess the plan for the future might be to record a segment for each of the cities they want to cover. Of course, this will prevent them from using live content in these segments, but I can't really think of a better solution. It's not like they have the capacity to push out 5-10 different live feeds, right? I think they only have like three control rooms, and I can't imagine them having more than one or two key walls set up in their building, so I'm pretty sure the finished product will have to be recorded segments, right?

my appologies for not updating this thread in awhile. while i can fill this in, the scope of this thread was hoping to track Ray. unfortunately, It's been awhile since I have seen him on either of these programs, therefore I lack the interest to update this. if anyone wants me to update the missing weeks, i can update this thread.

Well, looks like you brought Ray out of the woodwork. He's on Weekend View with Todd Santos today. Not sure which one of them did SW, though.

The LDA has been frozen on Chicago since the first hour of Weather Center earlier this morning. The subtle animations on the LDL are working, but that's about it. The five-day forecast still is showing Friday as the first day.

Well, this is a very interesting decision. Did TWC decide that sticking with weather-related long form is better than the movies?

Honestly, it doesn't matter very much since it doesn't help anyone get the weather information they need during severe weather; it seems like it's just a show to the media like, "Gee look, we heard you complaining about how our movies are barely related to weather, so we put up repeats of long form that we've shown a million times before, but it sure looks better for us since it's related to weather!"

Where were they standing/sitting during Day Planner?

(or did they just do the whole hour from the key walls?)
