Everything Else TWC / What have they done to my F1rst Outlook?
« on: September 22, 2008, 06:12:16 PM »
I recorded FO this morning, and to my surprise, they are now doing the show from the little desk with the big desk in the YWT configuration but with the set using the WN lighting scheme. Also, the side room LCD is now positioned like all of the other shows instead of in the unique FO configuration. Why?!?

We can do that. Yeah, let's do that.

Everything Else TWC / New standardized teaser format?
« on: September 19, 2008, 07:17:19 PM »
I watched DP and WC today, and I noticed that they were using a new style of teaser graphics for all hours. The new graphics are sort of a blend between the old Weather Rundown graphic from A&B and the teaser graphics from SportsCenter. The new graphic is positioned to the left, but it has two lines per story like the SportsCenter graphic. They're also colored yellow/blue for DP and WC, respectively.

I wonder if this is an attempt to create a standardized teaser style like they did in 2004...

Video coming in a few hours...

Everything Else TWC / Fun Fact
« on: September 16, 2008, 12:21:14 AM »
Weekend Planner was the only TWC studio show this decade so far to originate from only one studio (1A). Just a thought.

Everything Else TWC / Hanna's other three landfalls
« on: September 15, 2008, 07:18:39 PM »
Salisbury, Maryland    September 6    50
Islip, New York    September 6    60
New Haven, Connecticut    September 6    60

Why didn't TWC have 50,000 reporters at each of these sites? Rather, they sort of neglected the storm by this point. Would things have been different had Ike not been in the picture?

General Discussion / Weird dream...
« on: September 14, 2008, 08:05:16 PM »
Last night I had a dream that Ike had strengthened from a Tropical Storm to a Category 4 hurricane over Missouri and that it was coming right for me. It made no sense, but it was actually pretty scary...

Everything Else TWC / CBS News reporters - not gone yet!
« on: September 10, 2008, 06:14:56 PM »
Even though NBC and TWC obviously have a preliminary deal to start sharing resources before the official acquisition, it seems as though TWC has decided to not cut off its use of outside resources until the deal is final; they just did featured a live CBS report during this past segment, and I'm pretty sure they also did the same during Hanna coverage. It's good to see that TWC is acting independently while they still can.

Local Forecast / Satellite Warning Crawl activated...
« on: September 05, 2008, 08:23:52 PM »
I was wondering when this was finally going to happen! TWC is currently using the orange warning crawl on the Dish Intellistar to crawl the latest public advisory on Hanna. Also, the time is currently frozen on Mountain Time, but it isn't labeled at all, just like a local Intellistar.

Programming and Graphics / Watching Hanna and Ike
« on: September 03, 2008, 08:35:21 PM »
Is this a sign that the TWC hype machine is back? Hannah is still a few days out, but it's already time for, "Mike Seidel, The Weather Channel, Wrightsville Beach, NC." :P

Everything Else TWC / This just in from the Forecast Earth desk...
« on: August 26, 2008, 07:27:14 PM »
...I'm sick of hearing about the freakin' Forecast Earth desk! Obviously all of the OCMs have been instructed to mention the "Forecast Earth desk" at least once per hour even for stats that are only vaguely related to climate change. I wonder what genius came up with this sickening idea... *cringe*
