Unfortuantely, the same doesn't hold true with Comcast. It would be a miracle if a day went by without some area in this state not experiencing an outage.
Wow. I feel sorry for you guys that are stuck with Comcast.

They say cordless phones interfere with wireless routers, and that you shouldnt put cordless phones near where your wireless
router is.
I'll keep that in mind when we get our Cable service set up.

You have to realize that different companies have different levels of service. Comcast's happens to suck. Personally, I'd rather have Cox than Comcast. Their service and services are rated much better than Comcast's. In fact, most other companies are rated better than Comcast, because Comcast is down near the bottom of the list.
Cox is definitely way better than Comcast. I have had NOT one cable outage with Cox (except during Hurricane Ivan, obviously).

I've never experienced those problems that you had with Cable, Gary. Several years ago, I had Cable internet from Cox, and it was VERY reliable. B) I'm looking forward to going back to it.

I think the prices for Cable will go down in the future, much like how DSL did. And to be honest, I don't mind the extra price for Cable because of what I've went through with DSL. It's not even worth bothering paying for an always-on DSL connection when in reality it is "Always Off". <_<

Actually, that theory is probably the best one so far. Telecommunications devices are extremely prone to interference. May father recently had DSL service in the apartment he lived in and to start with he had problems like your having. The problem ended up being that lines from Verizon were interfering with those from Cavilier Telephone (another phone co. in this area). Are there other phone companies servicing your area other than the one your with?
I'm not sure. But TBH, I really don't care what's the problem now since we're going back to Cable very soon.

Well, my mom called my ISP tonight, because the internet was down for a long time and she wanted to know if there was something going on at the ISP. Well, she calls them, and they say it's something interfering with the modem, and they asked to send someone out. Guess what she did? She said, "No thanks, I'm going back to Cable." *she hangs up on them*

General Discussion / What internet connection/service do you use?
« on: July 27, 2007, 09:47:11 PM »
Since the topic of internet connections has been brought up in the Front Porch quite a bit recently, I thought it'd be a good idea for a new poll.

Right now, I'm using DSL through BellSouth/AT&T, and as you may now, it SUCKS! Thank god I'm switching to Cable (with Cox) in a week or so. I've had it before, and it's WAY better than this crappy service I'm on now.

So, what do YOU use?

Here's what I'm going to do for you Gil. You've got ONE final chance to straighten up or your gone. You know as well as I do that Matt (or Tyler or Chazz) would never EVER in a million years allow you to act the way you have here, or treat them the way you've treated me. They would've banned you so fast your head would've spun. I plan to do the same. So, get all your nastiness and arrogance out because it isn't allowed anymore. The next time you say something to Stephen, Kyle, or I that we don't like, your outta here. You will treat this board as you would treat TWCC and you will treat the three of us as you would treat the trio over at TWCC.
Yep. Plain and simple - one more time you misbehave, you = :banned: And that's final.

Gary knows better because he just edited several posts in a row and a timestamp appeared on each one.
Yes, but like I said, it doesn't happen all of the time. I don't know why, but it doesn't.

Because when you edit a post, this is what you get at the bottom:

There is no last edit time stamp on yours.
That doesn't happen all the time for some reason.

We've pratically NEVER had a cable outage in our area, so with Cable internet, outages will likely be rare. Also, we're going to get Digital Telephone too, which means our telephone will run via Cable as well.
