but i changed the subject of the thread!
Oh, I see what you mean. You had me confused for a second (b/c you said "title", which refers to the actual name of the thread). :)

i did b/c this topic is about New Year, but instead my post included a part about hangovers, and everyone started to talk about alcohol instead. <_<
You didn't (and can't) change the title of the thread, though. ;)

You can also make a fake online list (or any other page you want to), by using this JavaScript code:

Code: [Select]
javascript:document.body.contentEditable = 'true'; document.designMode='on'; void 0
Just go to the page you'd like to edit, and then paste that code into your browser's address bar.

:P

My Vista Home Premium has a Windows Experience Index of 3.4, is this good?
It's better than mine (2.9). ;)

And according to Windows Help:
Quote
A computer with a base score of 1 or 2 usually has sufficient performance to do most general computing tasks, such as run office productivity applications and search the Internet. However, a computer with this base score is generally not powerful enough to run Windows Aero, or the advanced multimedia experiences that are available with Windows Vista.

A computer with a base score of 3 is able to run Windows Aero and many new features of Windows Vista at a basic level. Some of the new Windows Vista advanced features might not have all of their functionality available. For example, a machine with a base score of 3 can display the Windows Vista theme at a resolution of 1280 × 1024, but might struggle to run the theme on multiple monitors. Or, it can play digital TV content but might struggle to play High Definition Television (HDTV) content.

A computer with a base score of 4 or 5 is able to run all new features of Windows Vista with full functionality, and it is able to support high-end, graphics-intensive experiences, such as multiplayer and 3‑D gaming and recording and playback of HDTV content. Computers with a base score of 5 were the highest performing computers available when Windows Vista was released.
So, you're basically right in the middle, in terms of perfomance.

Just got this today at lunch. :D

My specs are a bit higher then that one though.

I noticed a (minor) error on that page:

The HP Pavilion dv2500 comes standard with genuine Microsoft® Windows® Vista Home Basic, but you can easily upgrade to genuine Windows® XP Professional if you need to connect to networks at school or work.

Are they trying to diss Vista or something? :P

IE 7 isn't all that great. If you don't have IE 7 I'd suggest staying with IE 6.
As far as I'm concerned no version of IE is all that great. I'm moving happily along with Firefox.

i never actually upgraded my ie, it was done automatically when I upgraded from service pack 1 to service pack 2
Actually, IE 7 is/was NOT included with SP2, and won't be with SP3 either. You must have installed IE 7 along with XP SP2.

IIRC, what happened to his old account?
I don't think you used that acronym quite right. ;)

At first I couldn't tell, but now that I see those songs "written by Thunder", it's an obvious fake. ;)

BTW, for the record, small post mountains are good because they allow a viewer to see how a conversation got where it did without having to look back over pages of posts.
That I'll agree with. Just the really long ones (like the one in Thunder's post) can be confusing and annoying to read for me.

Since when is quoting posts bad?

I don't think Thunder is saying that quoting posts is bad, I think he's talking about multiple quote embedding, which is when you basically have "quote mountains" in posts, like in the post above mine. I personally find these quite annoying, when I post, if there's a bunch of quotes in a post I quote, I remove all of them except the one for the message I'm actually replying to, to avoid any "quote mountains".
