I stand corrected, you CAN run OS X with 64mb of RAM, but the only version AFAIK will support this is Cheetah (OS X 10.0). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS_X_10.0#System_requirements
However, the earlier versions of OS X were known for performance issues, so I wouldn't do it unless you upgraded the RAM up to at least 128 MB.

My current laptop is my first laptop that I've ever owned, and I have no plans on stepping on it in the near future.
