And besides, I usually keep it on all day (except when I go to school but even then, when I get home and turn my light on, I usually have to go get something before I can settle down, so the bulb usually warms up almost completely by then.).

Why not, anyway?Because the CFL's lifetime is reduced dramatically (by 85%) if it is constantly being turned off and on, like it would be in a bathroom.

Funny how you should mention "plagued with bugs", because the bulb was, literally, plagued with bugs.
This bulb was installed over our kitchen stove, and it had TONS of dead flies on it.
