Does anyone have a video of the logo changing? I realize that they could have changed it during a commercial on the TWC feed, but I mean like on Weatherscan.

I don't think the Weatherscan changed on August 15th; IIRC it remained with the old logo until late September '05 when it received its current graphics.

But here's a video from just before First Outlook on August 15th '05, featuring the last LF opener with the old TWC logo and the first few minutes of First Outlook with the new logo.

The Weather Channel Relaunch-Aug. 15th 2005

The STARs weren't updated until later that morning.

This season is starting to suck like last year's hurricane season which is good and bad. Good because it means the US is being spared so far from anything too extreme and bad because there's nothing interesting to track w/o it falling apart, being too weak, or being a fish storm. 

It's too early to really judge the season as a whole. Things certainly can change before the end of the season.

Who was on PM Edition with Nick today? I think it was Maria somebody, but I've never seen her before. There seem to be quite a few new OCMs at TWC lately, and I am losing track of all of them.

Maria LaRosa. She was hired back in March (while she was pregnant).

4) Finally, there was an annoying AT&T-sponsored Weekly Planner opener. Is this something new, because I don't like it. It was more like an advertisement than an opener.

They've used that for some time; I think it started to be used after all the new graphics/LDL/music and stuff premiered. They use that opener for all shows when the WP segment is sponsored.

I don't think Alex will be that  bad. If anything, the US will barely be affected by this.

I wouldn't say that. There's still more time to go before it reaches the coast, so things could change. There's a reason they have Hurricane Warnings issued for that area of Texas - the possibility is obviously there.

Well, Alex flopped when it comes to impacting the US. Time to move on.

They aren't going to move on until it dissipates. Even still, if it takes its northernmost track, which is still possible because there is still plenty of time before landfall, it will most certainly affect the US. TWC really doesn't need to write Alex off just yet.
