TWC Today News / Re: Site News

Add one of the first for high-level management: darbs = Geoffrey Darby (my own find). References to TWC, a plane from Atlanta to NY (yeah, he lives in NY) and a You Can't Do That on Television (part of his resume) allusion confirm it.

Rebekah Todd (rebekahtodd) might work at TWC, because she has a lot of TWC people in the following list as well as Geoffrey Darby.

He's producing news music? Call the NMSA!

He is the face of The Weather Channel, beyond all doubts.

They've been using reports from all networks. But their contracts with non-NBCs might be forced into nonrenewal.

I don't.

It was footage from Raleigh, North Carolina, yet the WC L3 "tab" showed WCNC-TV, the NBC affiliate for Charlotte.

They ran footage from Raleigh on the overnight Weather Center from "WCNC-TV". WCNC is in Charlotte; they might have intended WNCN.

The same thing happened with a Broadcasting and Cable article yesterday where they talked about KVNV as KNVN (which actually is a television station).

No blank station IDs, map changes, etc. My almanac does show No Report for the Yesterday Actual field.

Highlights: Geoffrey Darby saying "it's not your father's Weather Channel"

More news in evening hours

Morning is network's most watched viewing period

YWT with A&B? Is that an error?

A new look that will keep viewers informed on weather news coming this fall

"...the network will produce Breaking News Specials that will air within 10 days of major U.S. weather events to reveal how people prepared for and survive natural forces, according to the network."

Before October 2008, twcdan.com hosted quite a few TWC videos. I was able to download some to my computer (including some that were improperly linked to the point where you had to find the file yourself to view it!).

Would it be OK to give these to TWC Today, or should I hold off? They're mainly various mid-90s promos, because that's what that site had had.

Overnight, :46 past: Phoenix extended forecast mentions Squaw Peak.

1. Samantha Mohr was the host for the hour; she once worked at KTVK here.
2. Squaw Peak is now Piestewa Peak. Oh, Sam Mohr...

Also, there's a new Jim Cantore promo featuring the thundersnow moment and a part in the late '90s where a snowball was thrown at him on air (everything was cropped out, but the LIVE bug's typeface (likely A-G Ext.) indicates '98 or '99.

"More Americans get their news from ABC News than from any other source."

Seen overnight on TWC, a new Local on the 8s opener:

"More Americans get their weather from The Weather Channel than from any other source."

FO this morning: an administrative assistant with initials A.C.: "We call her AC-361. She's an amazing woman."

Nice reference to CNN there.
