Local Forecast / Re: WeatherStars you have seen
« on: July 18, 2009, 11:08:36 PM »
I know of one IS I've seen and two XLs.

IS 22329: Phoenix, AZ (Cox) (Traffic products)
Weatherscan: Phoenix, AZ (Cox) (removed March 2008)

XL: Chicago IL (obs Meigs Field, later Midway or O'Hare Arpt.)
XL: Phoenix AZ (I only remember seeing a Yamaha ad tag on this STAR)

Alejandro, it seems that TWC's logo might just be using FF Meta.

You know the multiple cities on the ldl is logical! I really like it now that I have it. My STAR covers multiple cities. Nice to have it mention through those cities now

Downtown Norfolk, VA Beach, Chesapeake

I noticed this too. The cities are Downtown Phoenix/Phoenix Area, Phoenix, and Mesa. This implementation really is bad (I'd say it should be Phoenix, Glendale, and Mesa) because of the duplication between the first two.

There's a four-minute interview with Steph and Al included there.

Sounds like something that ABC would do, not NBC.

General Discussion / Re: Music Artists that you Loathe / Hate

1. All rap artists. Can't stand rap.
2. Anyone who is part of the Disney machine. It might get you money and fame but it will give you a bad reputation, too.

Writing to deadmalls.com might help others know about all these dead malls.

Yeah, the STAR Team should fix it. The cableco should change these details in such an event, but Cox Phoenix never did - and I got that ID changed once!

"The Weather Channel announced that it was airing some new specials over the next year: Why I Love Winter, Why I Love Spring, Why I Love Summer, Why I Love Fall, and Why I Hate Geoffrey Darby." - my own work

Is it just my intellistar,or is anyone else getting national forecasts?I haven't gotten an actual local forecast since early Saturday afternoon.I've been getting national forecasts for the Local on the 8s..The blue bar hasn't been up in two days either..I'm wondering what's going on?.?. :hmm:

Sounds like an issue with your IntelliStar. If you know your local weather ID, go to TWC Classics and post on the STAR Team board.

Then there are these:

http://xoap.weather.com/web/common/images/ur_wx_today.jpg - an odd YWT logo
http://xoap.weather.com/web/common/images/map_metars600x405.jpg - METAR stations in the DC area
http://xoap.weather.com/web/common/under_construction.gif - likely from 2000 or 2001 due to its use of Akzidenz-Grotesk Ext.
http://xoap.weather.com/web/common/banners/dennis_alert_mode.jpg - Yes, THAT Hurricane Dennis.
http://xoap.weather.com/web/common/768_banner.jpg - weather.com banner likely from 2000 or 2001
http://xoap.weather.com/web/aboutus/ocms/ - this picture gallery is full of old OCMs - files are mostly by last name here.
clipstreampro.zip and clint.tar.gz - the second is a very large file but worth it - an archive of one of the big directories including One Degree resources. The icons directory has XL icons up to 93x93. Circa 2006. The first is an unworkable Java-based app.
http://xoap.weather.com/web/twc/768_mission_statement.jpg - Irony here anyone?
pdcst_296x218.jpg - an old high-res TWC logo

I'd found Geoffrey Darby (EVP Programming and Production, aka "Mr. Not Your Father's TWC") on Twitter as "darbs".

The promos for Wake Up with Al are actually funny, especially the long one that includes Meredith Vieira, Jim Cramer, and Jimmy Fallon.

On the flipside, it will be the exhibit promo of the year in how NBC's hand in management has changed the channel.

It also reminds me that TWC is not just owned by NBC but by two private equity firms (Blackstone and Bain).

Everything Else TWC / Re: TWC is now regretting being owned by NBC???
« on: July 10, 2009, 06:48:05 PM »
No.

Cable homes ≠ cable viewers.

TWC is one of several cable channels about to break the 100 million cable homes mark; because homes tend to have more than one occupant, that can translate into more viewers than homes.
