Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: October 15, 2009, 05:10:21 PM »
MSNBC ran for at least one or two hours without commercials in continuous live coverage.

Why is TWC covering the story? It's not a weather event at all...

It did seem to work: it won the weekend box office for the week.

I've been having periodic no picture and macroblocking (along with sound outages) for weeks now.

I am wondering if the STAR has gone kaput and they need to get a replacement? If so, I'd hope for an XL...(but it's a pipe dream, obviously)

That explains part of it, but what studio is doing the movie? Universal?

This is what I was talking about that said "TWC hit a new low".

I didn't know which OCM it was, gang. Sorry. At least I know who it is now.

It's horrible product placement on the level of pure TWC blasphemy.

More bad decisions by the marketing department at NBC Universal.

I wish I had video - it really comes off as the worst commercial with a tie-in to TWC. Ever.

I think our plane has arrived at rock bottom - and not gently, either.

Probably never launched. By 2000, TWC did have a pretty good hold on things. While 1998 and 99 were the best graphics years, 2000 was kinda the beginning of the decline. They got rid of their old VO guy too (the one they used since 1996).

All the patents and trademarks were registered to New Horizons Telecasting, Wycombe, PA.

That's a new place to sit a water bottle...

I'm thinking that's Carl's.  :bleh: j/k

Did the OCMs get sucked in by the Eco Canteen?

I had an issue where TWC had macroblocking overnight (1am ET hour) and would cut to gray. After I had TWC on for 15 minutes, my cable box rebooted. It was downstream from the IS though, so it could have been my box.

The promo for Brian Williams on Katrina doesn't have a Jim Cutler voiceover but an Eric Gordon one. Gordon's biggest client is CNN, and he's done a lot of local stations. Go to southernmedia-nmsa.com, click on Broadcast, then go to to ETC. in the top bar, select Voiceover Artists, then Eric Gordon. His newer stuff is a different sound than even earlier this decade.

When old and new footage are mixed...all but the die-hards won't notice.

When I saw FO in the last month, it was at the small desk by the map wall.
