Hello all! I am Nathan, a newer enthusiast to the TWC community, living in Dracut, Massachusetts. You may already know me as elevatorsonly and NWRGeek on Youtube. In case you haven't seen my videos across those 2 accounts, I am one of hundreds (possibly thousands) of elevator enthusiasts and a NOAA Weather Radio enthusiast as well. I joined the forum back on July 20, which is the same day I posted this video of my local Weatherscan channel to Youtube:
Boston, MA Weatherscan - Crapcast - July 16, 2012, 10:41 PM

(yay for Crapcast! [you can see the sarcasm])

Now for my Comcast rant...
As you can tell, I have Crapcast, which is a legal monopoly in Dracut ( ), meaning that you can only get that (or satellite) in town. Comcast sucks here - there are SEVERAL issues - internet is slow on frequent occasions, TV has frequent issues, such as issues with stations and even outages, and bad phone call clarity and even dropped calls on VERY FREQUENT occasions. (Sadly, most of the dropped calls are conversations between me and my mother.) As for TV, once, I was trying to watch a Boston Bruins hockey telecast on NESN, when NESN went out widespread on Boston-region Comcast systems. I missed a portion of the 2nd period, maybe the late portion of the 1st period too. My 6th grade math teacher and I discussed Comcast's issues on several occasions during that school year, and he has it. Not surprisingly, he hates it too.

Comcast's prices are RIDICULOUSLY high. Many people's bills are now exceeding $250 dollars PER MONTH, ours included, even for just having HBO added on. We pay over $125 alone for phone and internet, and the same alone for TV.

Now, I've been wanting Verizon's FiOS for a while, but the monopoly keeps stopping us. Practically every surrounding town has both Comcast and FiOS, yet Dracut cheaped out and annoyed many town citizens, my family included. My cousin, who lives two towns over in Andover, has FiOS. It is a really good service; never have I had a call issue there; nor an internet or TV issue. (As a resident of a Comcast-monopolized town, I'm proud to say that my iPad has been connected to FiOS. lol.)

I hope to post more videos of TWC and Weatherscan in the future, and I hope to also have a good time at this forum! ;)

To be honest, I like the newer HD set. I additionally like the one with the huge globe ("News-Like Set" or something of the like).

General Weather Chat / Severe Thunderstorm Watch #504
« on: July 23, 2012, 02:27:56 PM »
The National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch #504 for portions of western Connecticut, northern New Jersey, central and eastern New York (except for central and eastern Long Island), northeastern Pennsylvania, all of Vermont, Berkshire County in western Massachusetts, and adjacent coastal waters until 11 pm Eastern Time.

Remember, a severe thunderstorm watch means that conditions are favorable for severe weather development, including large hail and damaging winds, in and close to the watch area. Although severe weather may not be imminent at this time, people in the watch area should remain alert for rapidly changing weather conditions and listen for later official NWS statements and possible official NWS warnings via NOAA Weather Radio and http://www.weather.gov/, or commercial radio/television outlets and internet sources relaying official NWS products for the latest severe weather information.

Please go to http://www.weather.gov and type in your location (in "City, State" or "City, ST" format [ST = two digit state code without periods]) to see if you are affected by the watch, unless you are in Vermont, where the entire state is included, hence rendering the look-up useless there.

Updates can be provided below this post.
