before *insert generic apocalyptic event here* happens!
Not. Don't worry, it won't happen. It's only a mis-understanding of the Mayan calendar, boosted in 2009 by the sci-fi film "2012". Oh, and sci-fi means SCIENCE FICTION. People actually believed it and told all of their friends and family, but later realized (hopefully) that it's only sci-fi. Don't worry.

(scratch above paragraph if you were using sarcasm or were joking)

In other news, Boston.com made a typo in their Red Sox newsletter this morning.

No.

Would you program a NOAA Weather Radio to go off for just your county?

Local Forecast / Re: Severe Weather Alerts
« on: August 02, 2012, 02:58:15 PM »
there's a warning update
The NWS issues updates to warnings, known as Severe Weather Statements (Flash Flood and Flood Statement for those warnings) for every warning issued, usually. Occasionally, the office may mess up and fail to issue an update.

there are IntelliStars that do serve more than one county around its viewing area
That's actually perfectly normal, and ones that only serve one county are rare and usually seen in the middle of a large county. The most programmed counties are usually seen around areas with numerous county boundaries in a short area..

(either that, or it's the fact that I live in an area with 4 counties in a small area.)

General Discussion / Re: The Olympics Hit London - 2012

Just an FYI, but if your cable provider (both satellite providers carry it) carries the NBC Sports channel, the Olympics are live there!
Comcast also provides it on most packages, as they are actually the owners of NBC. :(

My neighbors are nice...for the most part. However, there are some annoying teens living in the house across from mine imp.

Banned because you don't know the extra A is used for "Additionally also known as" because I use 2 YT accounts for 2 different topics.

I got an idea from the boredom outlook.....

THIS HAZARDOUS BOREDOM OUTLOOK IS FOR ASHE COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA.....

DAY ONE...... TODAY AND TONIGHT....

BOREDOM WILL START OFF VERY ISOLATED IN NATURE IN THE MORNING...... WITH BOREDOM RAPIDLY INCREASING AND INTENSIFYING THROUGH THE DAY. ONE OR TWO BOUTS OF EXTREME BOREDOM IS POSSIBLE.

DAYS 2-7.... SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY LOOK LIKE ONLY SLIGHT CHANCES OF BOREDOM....... BUT THE SETUP IS LOOKING MORE AND MORE FAVORABLE FOR A WIDESPREAD AND LONG LIVED BOREDOM OUTBREAK STARTING ON MONDAY AND LASTING THROUGH A LARGE PART OF NEXT WEEK. MAJOR BOUTS OF BOREDOM IS INCREASINGLY LIKELY...... AND THE CHANCES OF EXTREME BOREDOM WILL LIKELY INCREASE AS WELL. THERE IS ALSO THE POTENTIAL FOR CRAZINESS...... AND THIS COULD BE MAJOR AS WELL. THINGS TO DO DURING THE DAY WILL NEED TO BE WATCHED CAREFULLY, AS THIS WILL DECIDE IF THE UPCOMING OUTBREAK WILL BE AS SEVERE. MODELS INDICATE THAT ALL THINGS WILL COME TOGETHER STARTING EARLY MONDAY MORNING........ AND WILL LAST ALL WEEK.

LOL!! I noticed you copied the coding from my fake battery warning...you only changed the office code and the non-VTEC alert code. I'm fine with that. :P

Severe Weather / Re: Severe Weather Season 2012
« on: July 27, 2012, 06:13:21 AM »
For a portion of the forecasted derecho areas, it happened, such as OH, PA, NJ, southeast and central NY, and now into MD/DE. On the other hand, in New England, it was a huge stupid hype by the media, and the SPC. They deserve a  for this if something doesn't happen overnight.

Won't comment on the media, but I'm not sure how SPC is guilty in that. They explicitly called only interior southern New England, which did get (or is in the process of getting) hit.
Only southern Connecicut got hit. However, southern Hartford County did go under one severe thunderstorm warning, because of its shape.

A tornado watch has been posted for portions of northeast PA, east central and central NY, southern VT, western MA, and northwestern CT until 9:00 pm EDT.

« on: July 25, 2012, 04:15:28 PM »
Welcome aboard to the forums, Nathan!  In regards to your Comcast rant, I don't know why things are so different in the Northeast compared to where I live.  Comcast may not be great, but it's not that bad here.  I go from bundle to bundle each year with just TV and internet to make my monthly rates much lower.  You may want to consider asking for special bundle rates in the future.
Thanks! and For the most part, Comcast sucks here. Probably local headends - but it's widespread in the Manchester/Boston/Providence area.
