Oh, yes, 2003 had some good stuff LF wise. It's my favorite TWC year. I don't really remember hearing "18" as much as I do some of the others, but I've listened to the clip and it sounds like a good song.

That seems strange. Isn't Norman where the NWS office is? Now, I know TWC isn't the NWS, but you would think the forecast Norman sees would be for Norman, the city where the office is.

Well, you've got several factors potentially in play here. First of all, it's been discussed that some forecasts are indeed not all that accurate and may be growing less accurate. Second of all, some people either don't prepare adequately or just ignore the warnings outright. This is made worse if the people repeatedly hear wrong forecasts. Third, it seems like what does or doesn't constitute a warning is up for grabs, for tornadoes and other storms.

With that being said, the 2011 Joplin tornado truly was a devastating storm. I remember watching plenty of TV coverage. It's unusual for tornadoes to follow interstates as closely as some of the ones I've heard about in the last three years.

46° and foggy, with winds NE at 3 mph. This is some cold front, and they say it's coming back north as a warm front.

Fast forward to today and now you've got the OCM's saying, "Now that you've got your Local On The 8's fix..." and moving on to the next topic. For me, that little saying translates as, "Now that that's over with... ." It's kind of a little pet peeve I have with TWC now. Given the choice between that video and what I'm watching now, I'll take TWC back then anytime. Add to that the fact that if you turn to TWC during tonight's prime time, you'll probably catch "Storm Riders" instead of real weather coverage — unless, of course, they do some WS Khan coverage instead.

This process is much slower here. The local electric companies in my area are still installing sodium lights. Up until a few years ago, there were still new mercury lights being installed, but that stopped abruptly when new installations or sales of mercury lights were banned. As the existing mercury lights burn out, they are being replaced with sodium lights.

50° with winds N at 7 mph. The claim is that it's partly cloudy, but I bet that's only up to 12,000 feet. It looks cloudy to me.

A forecast low for Friday night of 31° has become a forecast low of 43° over the course of three days. Sure, this isn't as big of a deal as an ice storm forecast that turns out to be wrong, but it's annoying nonetheless.

I've watched/listened to the LFs a little each day this week, and I must say that "Life in Stereo" by Ryan Farish is my favorite out of the mostly disappointing songs on the January 2013 playlist. At least it's passable LF music IMHO, and it is instrumental. On the vocal end, I don't mind "Keep Your Head Up" too badly; it's OK.
