I barely avoided one on two occasions in April with two 89° days, but now it doesn't look as though a 90° is in sight with the revised summer outlook.  I'm sure I'll see one, though; it would be almost unheard of for any part of Texas to go the whole summer without one.  I predict my first 90° will happen on June 7.

My Rangers are a miserable failure.  Only they could be ahead 5-0 and then let the A's score seven unanswered runs.  This is shameful.

I've heard quite a bit of noise about the Mariners getting the AL and the Nationals topping the NL, but I ultimately predict the Mariners will win the whole thing.

Partly cloudy, windy, and 66 °F.  Winds SE at 27 mph, gusting to 34.  When the wind's out of that direction, it usually rains, and there is a 50% chance of rain tonight.

Everything Else TWC / TWC-owned Wunderground.com and its woes
« on: April 20, 2015, 08:06:30 AM »
I'm not very happy with WU or by extension TWC right now.   I'm sure some of you might remember when TWC bought WU.  Well, they neglected to continue showing climatology archive data on weather.com, evidently because it was available on WU.

Unfortunately, there's been a glitch or something with WU which has wiped out weather condition data, causing every day for any given month in any given city to be represented by one weather condition.  Weather.com's archive only went back a month, but if it weren't dissolved it would beat what WU's archive has turned into.  I used to have fun keeping track of this data and comparing it to other years I had catalogued, but it would appear I've been denied this hobby.  This is one of the problems with consolidation, and it probably wouldn't be a big deal if it were an isolated incident, but it looks really bad given the current climate ( ) at the channel.

Wow, I hope there wasn't any major damage there.  I don't actually live anywhere near Houston, but I've seen enough TWC and other weather coverage to know that they get lots of humidity and therefore lots of rain.

It seems like every corner of this state (except for desert El Paso, I guess) had severe weather of some sort last week.  Ironically, the only power outage I had last week turned out to be a short power surge when there was no severe weather in the area.  Even though I can't say that I especially like power outages, they do carry their own "cool factor" for me nonetheless.  If it's daylight out, I just use the time to take a break; it it's dark, I can get some extra sleep (although there's no A/C if there's no power  ).

For the first part of the year, we rarely saw the sun here in my part of Texas, with so many cloudy days.  Now, occasional snow in the winter is not exceptionally rare where I'm at, but cloudy skies six days a week definitely are.  My area's known for its sunshine; at least it's back today, anyway.

Welcome back, Boyercam.   The big things going on have been TWC dropping Kim Cunningham and the Verizon dispute.  There have been a few severe weather events, including yet another Moore, OK tornado.

Good luck on the series, Toxictwister.  I'm looking forward to seeing something.

At least the weather has settled down a little.  I saw what could be considered marble-sized hail but I hear that others in the area had hail that exceeded baseball size.  The rain and even the thunder made for some soothing sleep, though.

The severe weather in my area is causing TWC to preempt the longform that should be on right now.  Perhaps this is the highlight of this event.  B)  Real weather beats re-run weather any day.

Partly cloudy and 71 °F.  Winds ESE at 17 mph.  A Tornado Watch is in effect.

EDIT: Big trouble's going down.  There's a tornado on the ground nearby and TWC even has their chasers out in my region.  I'm posting this from my mobile, ready to jump into my safe room if necessary.

EDIT 2: Tornado Warning.  There's already been hail, although the temperature is only 59°, lessening severe potential.  There's also gustnado activity going on.

EDIT 3: The worst has moved on, although now I have a Flood Advisory.
