Reynolds Wolf is filling in on Weekend View this morning.  He's not doing bad at all IMHO.

It looks like things are back to normal as far as WCL is concerned tonight, but now I'm wondering how long it will last.  What (nearly) happened last night is the equivalent of the Friday Night Death Slot for WCL.  By attempting to skip WCL last night, TWC has metaphorically "moved it to Friday Night" IMHO.  Weather intervened, which is a perfect example of why they shouldn't do this.

According to my DirecTV's schedule, WCL will be back tonight at 5 pm, 10 pm, and 1 am ET as usual.  Why does this feel like a victory?  :noexpression:

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

Last night shows that they've sown the wind (tornado-related longform*) and reaped the whirlwind (an actual tornado event).  They're covering it really good today, though.  In between Breaking News updates on damage, they're showing The Big 4 Cast complete with those awful icons that look like... something NBC would come up with.

* At least it is weather related.  One of the biggest complaints about longform I've seen is that it isn't that related to weather ("Prospectors," "Reef Wranglers," etc.).  So, the type of longform is a step in the right direction, but the scheduling is not.

Texas has just been walloped with tornadoes.  6 people are dead, over 100 are injured, and some really nice houses have been damaged and destroyed in the area SW of Fort Worth.  TWC is covering the aftermath, including live video and interviews with survivors.  The severe threat's not over; it looks like this weekend could get rough.

They just showed some more damage.  Cars have been flipped over, trees are down everywhere, and homes have been picked up and set down a la Wizard of Oz.  This is bad.

I didn't get any rain today.

Company meeting or not, it looks like that pesky old severe weather got in the way.   Weather writes the schedule.  Surely real tornadoes are an acceptable substitute to tornado-themed longform for TWC.  Let this be a wake up call to TWC about the true purpose of the channel.

It was a meeting this time, but what next?  With the way things have been going, it's sad to say this seems like something they would do on an ordinary day without a meeting or any other excuse reason.  This may fly on weekends, but I take it that it wouldn't be acceptable as a regular practice on weekdays.

By the way, I wonder what kind of groundbreaking changes were being discussed in the meeting.

I guess they must think there's no weather going on to talk about.  I just got my eyes full of tonight's TWC schedule on my DirecTV's guide; it's safe to say I won't be tuning in.  No Weather Center Live!  It's supposed to be their flagship segment.  This is not good at all.

Either that or somebody found the old Kid Pix CD and had a go at that.  Are they purposely trying to make TWC look cheap?  A lot of this stuff they're doing now comes off that way to me.
