Now I'm hearing "Love Theme From 'St. Elmo's Fire'" by David Foster (Oct. '09 list) on Sonic Tap Soft Hits.  I didn't expect it to show up there.

So, this means the vocals are gone?  I guess you could call that a win.  :)  For some reason, though, all I'm picturing when I hear "Local Weather all the time" is a continuous LDL with no actual LOT8's segments (and thus no music).  I suppose it could also mean that there will be a separate "local" TWC which will play continuous LFs, complete with music, while the "main" TWC shows longform or live (or not live) OCM segments.  Those are my two guesses, although I unfortunately think the former of the two is more real.

Why do i have the feeling twc is going in a g4 direction?

Does this include renaming the channel?  Oh, man.

Fair and 79 °F.  Winds calm.  There could be storms overnight, though.

This LF is just fail.   About the only way to get everything in is to take about 7-10 seconds for each screen.  At that point, you pretty much have to record it and play it in slow motion after the fact.  So, they figure skipping screens is a better alternative in a lose-lose situation.  Imagine what it will be like when the 30-second LFs debut (and I hate to even give TWC the idea).

Hurricane Central / Re: Hurricane Central 2013

Last night was the first time I had seen TWC put out what amounts to an advisory for an invest.  Not a tropical depression or even a tropical wave, but an invest.  Straw-grasping much?  The OCM did say that this system will heavy rain and rough seas where it hits regardless of whether or not it becomes a TD.

The Atlantic hurricane season predictions are out now.  TWC is going for 16 tropical storms, with 9 becoming hurricanes and 5 becoming major hurricanes.  Some sound advice came with this prediction, though: the number of hurricanes is not as significant as the number of landfalling hurricanes.  Additionally, it seems like they predict an above normal hurricane season every year.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: Mike Bettes in Tornado Accident
« on: June 01, 2013, 07:20:19 PM »
The local media in OKC better thank their lucky stars they're weren't massive fatalities because of that dumb advice.

This almost makes TWC not seem that bad anymore in comparison (as long as they don't do longform).  One wonders how any of the OKC channels involved in this failure can brag on their weather coverage after this.  I never thought I would say this, but even longform would have been less harmful than that kind of advice.  At least tornado-related longform provides common-sense advice.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: Mike Bettes in Tornado Accident

There were tornado evacuees on the highways along with the chasers.  For some reason, some residents thought it was a good idea to run by road, like people do on the coast when a hurricane is coming.  This made things worse for the chasers, creating a traffic jam situation that doesn't normally occur in a storm.  In reality, a car is about one of the worst places to be in a tornado.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

:o  Really?  Where is she?  Oh, too bad.  At least Jennifer Lopez is back.

This is yet another example of how the DirecTV technology doesn't know how to deal with the different direction TWC has been going.  It took a while for it to adapt to the 60-second LFs.  Now, it's showing OCMs that aren't even listed on weather.com (TWC's website IIRC).  I notice that Heather Tesch's name even shows up in the DirecTV "Search for Shows by Person" feature.  :itsok:
