Landfall!  Harvey comes onshore on San Jose Island, just 4 miles east of Rockport, TX.

Just previously, Cantore and Dr. Knabb were already discussing the strong chance that the name Harvey would be retired.  I have to concur.

There's also been a lot of discussion about power outages.  It's almost inevitable that the lights will go out.  Gas prices are almost definitely going to rise, too, because there are a ton of refineries near the Texas coast.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

IMO the red and black is a cool, sleek look for TWC; I suppose it would lose its impact if overused, but it does look good.  There's live coverage at night with OCMs, almost like there used to be.  I desperately wish this extra coverage were under better conditions ( ), but between the eclipse and Harvey, this is about the most I've watched TWC in one week since that ice storm during the winter.

I absolutely hate this!   I've taken a few trips to this coastline, and it is in my state, so it's distressing to see this coming.  I hope everybody's paying attention to the weather forecasts and getting out of there if possible; Mike Seidel is on the ground at Port Lavaca where the landfall is expected to be.  I'm just floored by how fast it developed.

At least TWC is on the air live (though they maybe would be anyway) and some different music is being played in the LOT8s.  It's too bad there were so many clouds in my area, which was only 80% partial anyway.

I for one still happen to like the ability to easily carry a 3DS in my pocket.  A Switch, by comparison, is somewhat less portable.  For that reason, even if I did get one it would mostly stay docked.  I never even got a Wii U, and it sounds like I was well served not to do so since I'm noticing a lot of people saying it is (and was) boring.  I still play the original Wii.

Sunny, windy, and 89 °F.  :shades:  Winds W at 21 mph.  A Red Flag Warning is in effect; it's amazing how fast it got hot and dry.  Not to mention windy, but it's always windy here.

I think MK64 had the best fake items, though.  They actually resembled real ones a little more and could deflect hits.  I guess later on they worked as a junky item for people in first to get which wouldn't protect them from shells and the like, but that role was taken by the coin in MK8.  I hate seeing anything be taken out of the game, with the exception of the thunder cloud (no offense, S07  ).  I don't think anybody liked that item.

As far as double item boxes go, I think those were in Double Dash only because of the two-to-a-kart mechanic.  Each player could only hold one item at a time, though; in most MK games, you can hold an item behind you and collect a second in reserve.

The more I play MK over the years, though, I find that mushrooms are my favorite item in the game.  When used right, they can be difference makers.  In MKWii and MK7, they can even be used to dodge the dreaded blue shell.

Programming and Graphics / Re: Anyone want more live programming?
« on: January 06, 2017, 10:31:03 AM »
I still watch occasionally, but that's all.  If there were more live programming, I would watch more.  As it is now, though, I usually only watch when a major weather event (such as a winter storm) is going on.

Remember when they said they would increase the live hours in 2016? That was obviously complete BS.

Imagine that, the media lying.  What a shocker.  :pinch:

I don't suppose "Home Fries" by Joshua Redman ever appeared on a playlist, did it?  I heard it on Sirius XM Watercolors the other day, and was thinking it would've made a great TWC tune.  I definitely remember "Molten Soul" being used in 2003, though, and it was quite a catchy tune.

Wow, I guess there's hope for Nintendo after all.  I've got to have this!
