 Apparently Ryan Farish is sponsoring one of the pop/rap radio stations here to play the debut of his new album nonstop from 12-2am.

Not surprised Tyler... Al was back in NYC this morning which seems things have somewhat returned to normal
That doesn't really mean anything in regards to primetime  :dunno:

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: February 05, 2011, 01:26:48 AM »
I still find it odd that TWC's new owner still isn't able to give its subscribers access to the IS2!!  Does anyone want to take out bets as to how long it will take?
It is also up to your cable company to actually request it. I doubt we see a widespread adoption of it unless they make it mandatory.
I hope they see this and make some positive changes. The good thing is that since they have primetime, they are only showing it when the weather isn't bad.

In which next week (Thursday in particular) would lead to another preemption of this disastrous move, in that case i don't see this gimmick lasting very long (a few months if lucky), Dish will jump on this again and maybe Cablevision/Time Warner which would make TWC have no other choice than to just can this gimmick and revert back to the old schedule.
I strongly doubt any threats from the cable/satellite companies will matter. We saw how that turned out. Dish threatened to drop TWC and made a big deal about going to a new channel but then simply decided not to. TWC promised a whole bunch of tantalizing options like WeatherScan for Dish but there hasn't been a single peep about that. I don't like seeing long form anymore than any of you but TWC is at least putting severe weather first. They have weather updates every 30/60min too. Clearly they made changes in the right direction.

I have to wonder how successful long form will be in primetime. I suspect it will be much higher than many of you think. If 400,000 people watch TWC for 10min to see the forecast as opposed to 200,000 watching for a full 60min, it seems as if TWC values the latter because it boosts their rating and increases ad views. In return that means more ad revenue. TWC is desperately try to get people to sit down and watch the Weather Channel for long periods of time. Nobody wants to do that and I hope they eventually get that notion out of their heads. We shall see.

I know a few, but that's about all. Where are Rick Griffen and Will Annen working? Some others I can think of are Sharon Resultan, Dave Swartz, Hillary Andrews, Melissa Barrington. Now we have Nicole Mitchell, Bill Keneely and Alexandra Steele. Are these people still in the industry?
Check out Matt's site but off the top of my head.... Sharon retired to take care of her kids, Dave is sometimes a fill in on air, Nicole is still in the air force and thats about all I got.

General Weather Chat / Re: 2010-2011 Winter Storm Season
« on: February 03, 2011, 10:09:32 PM »
Well, they can't do anything if they don't see it coming. No one can really blame the Meteorologists, but I do hate when the forecast is off like that.
Too bad more folks don't understand that. :/

Anyway next week could be big. Joe Bastardi is going off as usual comparing next weeks potential storm to surviving a nuclear war. "the week of all weeks as far as winter maybe on the way. "

Winter Weather / Re: January 31st-February 2nd Superstorm
« on: February 01, 2011, 07:53:00 PM »
I am displeased at the lack of instability here where I live. Lots of rain but there's low CAPE, therefore, little or no lightning.   It's only February 1st, though. Later on, there will probably be more oppurtunities for thunderstorms and severe weather.

Well, I think getting the beneficial rainfall is more important and the best thing out of this. Severe weather is all fine and well, but I hate dealing with it during the Winter, the dynamics are better in the Spring and it's warmer for a longer period of time. I rather have a soaking cold 2 inch rainfall than suffer through another long term drought where we'll be begging to get a drop in the bucket. Were about 4 inches behind so this rainfall should be a really good drought buster for us.

Cold and rain suck in general but folks in the south need a good rain in some locations! Tomorrow here it is going to go from the upper 30s to 70s then back to 40s. Its a temperature roller coaster!

Local Forecast / Re: IS2 compatibility issues
« on: February 01, 2011, 07:41:31 PM »
So, in other words, Comcast shaves so much bandwidth off that the IS2 isn't able to work with so little remaining bandwidth.

Comcast would have to remove HD Channels with less viewership in IS2 Qualified areas like Massachusetts and The Boston Area did

7 HD Premiums for example

HBO Comedy HD - 774

Action Max HD - 777

5 Star Max HD - 778

ThrillerMAX HD - 779

WMAX HD - 780

OuterMax HD - 782

Sho Showcase HD - 879
They wouldn't have to remove anything if they just kept upgrading their network. They wont ever get rid of premium channels. They make some decent bucks from those.

I'm staring at the current watch/warning map, and I can't remember seeing such a huge area under a Blizzard Warning in a long time.
The advisory map is just amazing!
