Yea, even though Irene will be considerably weak by then. 3 days with no power for south jersey residents expected
Is it just for the power? I can't recall exactly where you live compared to the track. 3 days isn't that bad.

We're going to evacuate somewhere towards Philly. Apparently, the casinos can't take their own residents without $.
You're evacuating?

Sorry those were broken earlier. People really getting worried here

Emergency Management Bulletin on my IS2. Don't think anyone has recorded one of these in the past

Thanks for posting again, Martin! But why don't you have the red box on The Week Ahead indicating hurricane conditions? Are these not done on the IS2? :dunno:

I also don't like how the Management Bulletin covers up part of the LDL.

Funny thing is those alerts were for the Outer Banks. No watch was issued for my area until afternoon. Shhh. Don't tell the STAR team. I like my extra alerts :P It was strange how the Hurricane Watch had no information in it.

A mandatory evacuation simply means that emergency personal will not come out to save your ass if you don't leave. They probably wont force you from your home but may make note of who decided not leave.

Fun fact.... each dropsondes cost around 700-800 bucks. Still well worth it though!

Just imagine if Republicans get their way and slash NOAA's budget.
Can we stay on the topic of tropics please ;)

Whats going on with the radar in the corner of the screen? It keeps bobbing up and down and jiggling. It affects part of the LDL they broadcast as well. (Not the part generated by the IS) Its very odd

Is "Breaking NOW" supposed to be "Breaking NEWS" on weather.com right now? They may end up changing this before anyone gets to see it.

I don't think it's a typo, I think it's supposed to say "Breaking Now"

Anybody a little surprised Jim is still in the studio tonight? They sent Mike Sidel out to FL (he'll probably be relocated) and Eric out to NC. I figured Jim would be the first or one of the first to be deployed out to a location for Hurricane Irene.
Nah they want to position him once and thats it. Probably waiting for accuracy to improve

All NWS offices in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic are doing 6-hour upper air launches, and the hurricane hunters are dropping numerous dropsondes in and ahead of Irene.  Everything commenced yesterday afternoon and will continue until NHC orders us to stop.  All of this extra data is being fed into the models, so I'm not surprised how much change you've all observed in Irene's track over the past 24 hours.

I think the Outer Banks and New England have the highest risk of landfall now.  Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina will probably get a close brush as it parallels the coast.
