Uh oh Chris, what are you really looking at? :bleh:

Gil, 64bit are for computers that have more than 4gb RAM. Back in the day nobody would have expected computers to reach the levels they did. Not really MS fault. Yes ive used 64bit for several years now. Glad i made the change.

At this point its just too much for a manual update. So you will need to reinstall it.

Haha well ive had some $$ stashed away for something special. Considering chances to get some of this stuff doesn't happen everyday, its worth it IMO to go ahead and spend the money now. It may be useless but its something fun to have.  Plus doesn't it rock to say i own my own Jr and XL  :rofl2:

Now im planning to get a KU sat so I can play with mabey trying to get something going

$450 with shipping for the XL
$250 with shipping for the Jr

Shipping for these things are not cheap. The XL is around 60 pounds!

Not willing to sell those and I dont know of any others for sale. Brian (cc17926) bought the broken XL off ebay for around $200 with shipping. We are going to see if we cant work something out to help get his running. Ill keep my eyes peeled for any others stars out there :P

Haha ok guys let me clarify some things, I am indeed 17 :P

I do have some connections with TWC and the star team. Nothing major, just some names and emails. As for the star units I do indeed have a WeatherStar Jr. It is in working condition and quite nice. I purchased it from a guy who was shutting down his small cable head end. As for the XL, some of you may have seen a guy at the 4000 forums post that he has recovered a fully functional XL unit. I just bought this from him and its on its way to my now. So more sheer luck than anything. :bleh:

Another thing I should note is that im the kind of person who jumps on things. The moment I see someone posting something about owning a star unit im busy contacting them about a sale. Its luck, common sense, connections and money.  :fear:

I hope nobody is irritated with me or anything. Just thought I picked up a slight feeling oh hostility. I always try to share my findings with the weather channel community.  :hmm:

It would be impossible. The only connections that the XL has is a One-Way, Client-Server connection. No internet or anything.
However you could simply pull the drives out and go through them right?

It seems they're slowly phazing out the 4000s here in TX.

I feel like FTPing the XL to extract some files if I have the know-how.
How could you possibly FTP into the XL?
You might find that there will be an XL in Norfolk, VA soon too :P haha while that method is not the one i would choose it may be possible to extract content from the xl
