The more I look at your setup the more suspicious I get. Why are you all going to great lengths to cover your tracks? You are using a third party source ( Domains by Proxy) to hide your info for your domain. However it cleverly states in both the TOS for that site that:

"Prohibitions: Domains By Proxy is not intended to be used to protect your identity if you:
Violate the law or infringe a third party’s trademark or copyright;"

If you are not doing anything wrong, why bother going to great lengths to hide your info. GoDaddy has been cracking down on that kinda stuff lately!

Yes, we do buy all the rights to the music we use. We contacted Trammell via phone and he did give us permission to use the music, and we did request that he wrote an email to us saying that exact same thing.

Buying the rights to music can be very expensive. Are you buying them from some site or directly from the artist/studio?

Unless you have a signed paper from Trammell you have no official agreement. He must be out of his mind or severly misunderstood what you all are doing. It seems odd that an artist would be willing to throw in support so easily. Why did you not choose any other music? It seems kinda silly just to copy what TWC uses. Although I guess thats the backbone behind your whole "operation"

Gotcha. I think it would be best to cite your sources in the videos

Another thing I just thought of, does the SS8 project have the rights to all of the music they use. Its claimed that Trammell gave the OK to use his music but unless you have a signed agreement I dont think its really legal. Plus it would not surprise me one but if TWC had attached some strings to the music preventing any competition (although I dont consider the SS8 to be that) from using it. Kinda unoriginal too using Trammell anyway. :dunno:

That so called "12-year-old" happens to be me <_< I am not a full-fledged environmentalist. I happen to procrastinate on this part of the project, and I only go on to tell you how to same money :P

If you dont mind me asking, what makes you qualified to give people info on how to save money? Where is your info comming from?

And let me add that prephaps my previous post were a little harsh and I do apologize for that. However I stand by everything I posted and commented on.

I also would like to add that I think this article is misleading, contains false information and promotes illegal actions (copyright infringment) as such I have reported it to that paper.

Local Forecast / Re: Christmas 2008 Playlist

Every radio station does this too and it sucks. They start playing like Nov 12 but god forbid they play more than a few minutes into the 26

I would also like to know how to do this. In the past I have used Frontpage/Sharepoint to simply create a dynamic template that would update each of my pages in the site by iteself whenever I made a change to the template.

Gee.. Thanks guys, I really feel welcomed here now

We work our butts off to get weather information out to you guys, creating weather maps, and yes, we do get most of our forecasts from the National Weather Service, however, we do have some expertise in some subjects.

It would be an absolutely stupid thing for TWC to sue us, because 1) it's a waste of their time, and 2) We are not violating any copyright/patent laws, and 3) If they sue us, they have to sue WeatherUnderground and every other weather website out there, which is illegal because then you have a monopoly. We are simply a weather site on the internet, nowhere close to TV yet.

If you guys hate SilverStar 8 so much, just stop watching us.

1.So your saying your project is so insignificant and small that nobody should care about it.

2. Oh come on you have got to be kidding me!! SilverSTAR (hmmm weatherSTAR) 8 (hmm local on the 8s) Even your name is uncreative.  Im sure If I looked up the patents on the weatherstars I would find your breaking quite a few. You may not know it but the basic design/setup of your local forecast likely breaks several TWC copyrights. You even call it an LDL.

And no you do not make your own forecasts. TWC for example has servers that take in the NWS forecast and tweaks its a bit. You just look at the NWS forecast and guess. Its very sad that you call yourself meteorologists.

3. What? Do you read what you type? Weatherunderground and other websites aren't trying to copy TWC programming and local forecasts to SELL and make a profit on. Im sure that have all the copyrights on their material anyway.

Anyway dont worry.  I think its safe that 99% of the people dont watch your SS8. (haha good job on that abreviation! 8 )

Prehaps I am a little harsh on you all but you walk around with your noses stuck in the air. You are eat up with yourself! I mean take a look at your wallpaper link. Its just a bunch of pictures of voice crackly teenagers. They are just bad and show the obsession you have with yourself.

What the hell. How can this crap be news.  :censored:

"Now the future meteorologists hope to get cable companies to subscribe to the service. Poecker would like to talk to local cable broadcaster Wave Broadband to start the process of migrating to TV."

I really hope TWC goes ahead and sues their ass just for the heck of it. The design, the name, everything...

"Andrew Poecker is a weekend meteorologist"
No he is a kid who reads a NWS forecast.

"A 12-year-old environmental specialist from Michigan"
That sentence is wrong in so many ways. Whoever this writer is must be a retard. This is horrible writing.

General Discussion / Merry Christmas Everybody!!
« on: December 25, 2008, 12:00:05 AM »
I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

As always dont forget to remember the TRUE reason for the season!

Fun Fact:

We dont really know what time of the year Jesus was born.  It is estimated to be in the late Springtime. We celebrate Christmas when we do thanks to the Romans.  Saturnalia was the festival for Saturn held around this time each year.  When Christians begam to appear instead of starting to make a tradition and holiday from start, it was decided to tack on the celebration of Christ to this already huge holiday. The Romans used greenery and other decorations we see even today!  Hope you all learned a little something. Merry Christmas!

There is no virus in the program. Its part of the compressor used for the copy protection

Still looking into it

This makes no sense on so many levels.

Nobody should even be able to use the emulator. Keys were set to expire Dec 18 so a new release (which should be any day now) is sent out.

Im looking into this right now.
