Oh boy! Looks like tomorrow night's winds are going to be monstorous. I just took a look at a few models. I wouldn't be surprised if the NWS issues a high wind warning. Might see gusts up to 70 mph. TWC is only predicting sustained winds of only 29 mph, which brings me back to the night of Dec 7th, where TWC predicted winds of 28 mph but we had sustained winds at around 40 mph. What is the criteria for a wind warning up there? Not sure it would reach warning criteria but easily looks like an advisory
Can't do it, some of us still have finals :/Wow that close before Christmas?? That blows
CONGRATS!!! Is your degree in awesomeness?* beanboy89 is now a graduate of Millersville University!
Ain't nothing like trying to fix your weather station at 10 o'clock at night in 30 degree weather
Winter (which hasn't officially started yet) is pretty much the same here so far (Texas/Oklahoma). I feel like it's actually been colder than normal: highs anywhere in the 40s to 50s with maybe a 60-degree day or two thrown in there.
Both the southeast and northeast have already had a major snowstorm. I guess the northeast will typcially see much more snowfall by this time of year , but isn't the southeast experiencing pretty normal conditions right now?
Though I'm glad to see that Martin is taking this so well. I was expecting him to like... cry or something. lol
I am not in a broadcast curriculum. It is strictly meteorology, which also surprises me that they don't have a class for strictly broadcasting. Like I said before, several alum said they didn't learn to forecasting until an internship or their first job, kind of upsetting if you ask me.So its an operational curriculum right?
I got accepted into Atlanta Technical College, I start my Spring semester in January!Congrats![]()
Congrats on the college entrance!Operational and broadcast meteorology are different but I thought for sure a broadcast curriculum would include some basic forecasting. Most of the ones I have looked at do. Very interesting none are included at your school.
I just received word that I have been accepted as a weather intern for one of my local television stations this summer! So excited, I can't even handle it. Haha.
Speaking of that, I just found out a couple weeks ago that my meteorology program at my school does not offer forecasting courses. Some of the alum have said they didn't learn until their first job or at their internship; I'm definitely going to have my eyes and ears open with this internship. I mean, really? You're not going to teach future meteorologists how to forecast? Is this normal? Do you just take what you've learned about meteorology and the atmosphere and then apply it to the forecasting models?
