General Discussion / Re: The Pot Belly Stove
« on: February 06, 2010, 08:05:27 PM »Well, as of approximately 3:50 PM EST, my internet modem here is shot. I pressed the reset button on it like I always do when the internet is slow, and it stopped working. I called Comcast twice (the 1st time to have an automatic refresh signal sent) and scheduled a technician to come out and swap the old modem for a new one. Until then, unless I go over to the church or use my mom's phone (like I am now), I won't be online nearly as much. Geesh, we've had that modem since we moved downtown in 2007.Modems are crappy pieces of tech. Most (from my experience) tend to die after several years if you are lucky. Actually read a study that shows the constant use and heat tends to significantly shorten the lifespan of most routers

« on: February 06, 2010, 05:40:19 AM »Glad you brought up the concept of old games, Billy. Anyone ever hear of a game called SimTower? I used to love that game, and my brother inadvertently got me into it. It works on my desktop, which apparently has Vista 32 bit, but not on my laptop (which I know has 64 bit). I always play the game the exact same way, lol. I love though how it is like a window, and does not force you to stay in the program like most other games.OMG!! Yes!!! LOVED that game

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Comcast Rebranding Services to "xfinity"
« on: February 05, 2010, 09:35:27 PM »Yeah, just noticed it in the Lansing State Journal today... not sure this makes any sense to me. What a goofy name, imoDoubt prices will be cheaper. Just a way to sorta hide the Comcast name that has gotten a bad reputation. Almost how Blackwater USA (security group that got a lot of bad press coverage in Iraq) changed their name to Xe
So I noticed that the wikipedia article says services will only be available in 11 Media Markets... obviously meaning Lansing is not included. Does this mean that Comcast will still be shown on my station ID and cable bill? I also wonder if this would make higher internet speeds cheaper...

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Re: Website Errors and Problems
« on: February 05, 2010, 05:59:39 PM »Its really not a problem on my end. SMF has a ticket for it so perhaps with the next update. If I have some time I can try to find where those commands are stored and add itIt's incredibly annoying, as I always type alt-s when posting. Is there anything that can be looked into?Does TWC Today support Google Chrome? The TV Media teacher recommended using Google Chrome, and I've been giving it a try the past 24 hours or so. When I hold down alt and press "s" to submit a post, I get a ding on my computer, as if I pressed an incorrect key. However, alt-p, to preview the posts, works fine. Not sure if every shortcut or whatnot is supported but the forum and site work just fine with it. I have been using Chrome for months now
