IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: IntelliStar 2 Beta Launch
« on: April 11, 2012, 12:54:31 AM »
Easter still isn't narrated... You'd think they'd have recorded it and everything by now. Instead it's just "Our local forecast."
I see no reason to narrate the holidays. Just more work for developers to worry about considering the dates jumps around a lot.

I really like the hour by hour. Reminds me of the IS2 a bit.

I wanted to update you on this.... The modification that makes the weather icons is very touchy. SMF has a default profile input for location that the modification uses. This means I cant edit it to say that it will be used for weather conditions. Perhaps in the future I can look into changing this

Programming and Graphics / Re: Wake Up With Al

It's all about NBC having their cake and eating it too. They want Al Roker to have his own weather show but still able to do the Today show. Lets just be thankful they are comfortable experimenting with one OCM rather than packing up the studios and shipping them to NYC.

I am disappointed that Steph and Mike wont be physically together but after their..... lets just say bumpy personal relationship.... I think they might both be more comfortable.

Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion

It seems that the cable headend logos and their channel numbers on the station ID segment, cued by the IntelliStar, are missing, but the radio station screens are cuing as normal. At first I thought this might have been a local headend issue with Charter in Astoria, but I saw that Xfinity in Spokane has done it also.
My unit hasn't showed the logos in well over a year or so. Still shows that little dot in the corner. Can't really confirm if its happening. Perhaps some other members can check?

Programming and Graphics / Re: Where can i get Intellistar graphics???
« on: April 09, 2012, 03:38:51 AM »
The 4000 graphics have been available for some time now, not to mention the emulator.  I take it TWC's policy is to just conveniently look the other way regarding such an old system?
Actually the 4000 unit has its graphics on system boards that are probably older than some of the members on this site! It would be essentially like trying to take graphics off a calculator with todays computers :P The graphics released out there now are fan made and not originally from the system itself.

You will not be able to get your hands on them unless you are a veteran who is well-known to the administration. Sorry.
No, not at all. These graphics are copyrighted and no exceptions can be made, even if you are well-known to the administration. I may be wrong, but I will have to wait for Martin to give his final word.
Correct. No copyrighted content will be distributed on this site. There are plenty of fan made variations floating around. If you need graphics for personal use I suggest kindly contacting the author of the works. I am sure if you ask kindly they will work with you to allow its use.

General Discussion / Re: The Pot Belly Stove

I really wish they would get rid of HiRAD, but I know they won't. The sky conditions that get reported on the IS here is usually always wrong too. If it says Partly Cloudy or Fair, it's Cloudy and vice versa, it's very annoying and it's slow about updating when precip moves in. The temp readings here aren't as bad as the sky obs are though, but sometimes they're way off base also.
I agree. I'm fine with using it for temps but its not too good at sky conditions

This is the current temperature in L'Anse, Michigan. UNBELIEVABLE!

Thats an error
http://forecast.weather.gov/obslocal.php?warnzone=MIZ004&local_place=L%27Anse+MI&zoneid=EDT&offset=14400

That's an inaccurate reading.. the closest airport to L'Anse (Houghton, MI) is reporting 74°F at this hour.

Lol beat me to it!
