Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: May 09, 2012, 02:38:46 PM »
Has TWC discontinued its Social segments, the one that shows the trending topics on the air? I haven't seen those in a while, but I wouldn't mind their termination.

Yeah, good question.. I haven't seen it in awhile. Perhaps they realized people don't care about what others are saying about the weather? hmm..
I hope so. It wasn't social at all. In the past they featured tweets directly sent to TWC or in response to an OCM. These were just random tweets that had weather words in them from around the country. Boring.

EDIT: I didn't want go through and bring up an old thread, so I posted this here.

This is for YWT, but related to WUWA's situation. MIKE is now in NY too for rehearsals for YWT live from New York?

Stephanie Abrams "Yay! My work husband Mike Bettes finally made it to NYC! Rehearsing for YWT live from NY Monday!"

Work husband? Oh the irony of that statement.

Here is what I think is interesting: TWC is celebrating 30 years of being on the air and TWC Classics is celebrating 15 years of being a web site - which means that TWC Classics started around the time that TWC was celebrating it's 15th anniversary. Has anyone ever thought of that?
That is pretty cool! B)

Well I have finished my first semester of 19 credit hours. Whew! It was a lot of work but I did well in most of my classes. I'm signed up for 24 hours next semester but I'm working on knocking a couple classes off that. :P
Thanks Eric. :) I wasn't prepared for the rigorous coursework awaiting for me during the first few weeks, but I had to tackle it if I wanted to be successful. I have learned a lot of interesting material in my classes, though. Lookin forward to organic chemistry and Calculus I though :P
Finding that balance between classes and fun is key! I know if I go out with friends to consume some "beverages", I have to make sure its not interfering with my courses. Unlike most people I don't qualify for any financial aid so I figure why do I want to waste my money on a course just to have to take it over again? College is way too expensive to waste money on.

There was a huge house fire right up the street from where I live this past Friday. I went outside to see if I could see the fire, but I couldn't see anything but thick smoke hazing up the sky. At first I thought it was a Brush fire which made me a little nervous. I didn't realize just how close the house fire was until I heard helicopters flying overhead and it was breaking news on one of our local news channels here. Luckily in that case no one was at home from what I heard.
Seem to be a lot of fires lately!
This is very strange. There's a lot of feedback off the radar in New Jersey and in NYC. I checked some observations in the area, there's nothing. I wonder what could be causing this.
Can't recall the description of the problem but I have seen this a couple times locally. If you notice the feedback matches the land area.
I've never taken a physics class before, or anything similar, but I think I finally understand the Barotropic Vorticity Equation. Took me about an hour of writing out on paper what all the terms mean and what they stand for. Yep, this is what I do in my free time. :noexpression: Nothing wrong with that right?  :dunno:
You can do some of my homework if you have that much free time :P
3.84 GPA this semester for me, like a boss
Congrats!!

Big fire in the backyard of a neighboring house, they contained it before the fire department came. Nobody was hurt.
Yikes thats a bit close for comfort!

Today happens to be the two year anniversary of that infamous night, and ironically, they have refused to preempt again tonight with widespread severe weather and tornado warnings.  :hammer:
I believe they still did bumps at the top of each hour correct?

From what I heard in the past the plan was to redo the SD forecasts to look like the HD version but I can't confirm if thats still the plan or if that ever was their intent. Personally I think its a safe bet to see the SD local forecast updated to reflect the format of the HD feed. How long that takes will remain to be seen

I hope they scrapped that plan and went back to the drawing board. I don't think the SD IS would look right having  those graphics.
More of a matter of the platform it was built on and getting similar devices using the same type of software.

Just went on to Wunderground, there's an Invest!

Invest 91...

Considering where it is, it's pretty far north for this time of the season, due to the warm SST's; I guess it's possible an Invest can form there. And the movement of this storm is awkward. Moving WSW at 14mph, strange pattern isn't it?
IF it developed I'm sure it would be subtropical

Back in the day, we had a notification mod installed that actually stretched across the whole forum under your user controls and was red to indicated a new PM  is that mod still available by any chance?
That mod was never updated
Patrick, possibly a color mod for the number, brackets, messages link, or all 3 when a message is in the inbox?

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: when will comcast get intellistar 2?

Xfinity Massachusetts has been trying to get the IS2 but hasn't gotten any answers yet.

only reply i got on the issue was "I’ll certainly pass along information to our affiliate team that works with Comcast."
From who?

There are no bandwidth issues if the cable company is carrying TWC HD. If they aren't then there certainly could be. For you naysayers there was a legitimate issue with Comcast. I don't believe it was with every Comcast head but select ones that had upgraded their equipment. I forget the long and complicated reason why it didn't work but there were incompatibilities with the IS2 and the Comcast upgraded equipment. Has the issue been fixed? Who knows.
