Local Forecast / Re: New LDL

The problem with that is font size, how easily it can be noticed, and how long the text is displayed. The old one still achieves all of these, which is why I believe TWC hasn't updated the warning LDL.
The only reason its not updated is because its so hard to mess with (literally its a major pain) and it wont match the IS

I will have to cast my vote as to no. I have several points as to why.
  • Some people do not want to be engaged with conversation of current twc or older twc
  • What will the solution be for administration? Will we have more admins that we would need?
  • How would the database be migrated / merged?
  • Truly, TWCT and TWCC have 2 different community types (besides the fact that one is today and one is classic)
  • There can't be a specific domain name like twctodayforums.com or twcclassics.com. This means additional costs.
  • Additional hosting costs
  • Only one forum software type can be chosen.
  • What would happen to the people that are banned at TWCC and not TWCT, or vice versa?
  • In my opinion, TWCC and TWCT are two different communities, and should remain as such.
All valid points. Appreciate your thoughts and opinions. Here are just a few of my opinions and thoughts in response to yours   B)

1. I personally feel having the two forums together would increase activity of both eras. Plus TWCC does have a current TWC section already and we have a classic section. According to the forum stats it seems the current section of TWCC has more activity than the classic section.
2. The admin team of TWCC would be allowed the same positions here unless otherwise specified by one of them.
4. You are correct the two communities are different. TWCC has a large member base and we would hope that more activity and more opportunities to interact would encourage more to participate.
5. The sites TWCToday.com and TWCClassics.com will remain the same. The only thing changing is the forum. twcclassics.com/forum would redirect here. TWCC itself is not going anywhere! ;)
6. Matt and I will continue are current hosting plans. Nothing new will be needed.
7. Matt is going to stop paying for IPB in the next month or so meaning the TWCC forums as they currently are will be converted to SMF anyway soon.
8. This would be dealt with on a situation by situation basis.
9. Thanks for your thoughts  Hope I have been able to answer some of your questions/concerns.

I vote "yes".  Will we be merging onto SMF or IPB?
Would remain SMF. There should be a way to merge databases but those options are still being explored

Recently I have engaged in talks with Matt about the possibility of combining the TWC Classics and TWC Today forums. Are sites would remain separate and would only effect the forums. Perhaps the biggest argument in my opinion for a merge would be to unify the community and have a single source for discussion. Activity as many of you know is down at both forums and it makes sense to combine our efforts.

No actions will be taken without the approval of the TWC communities so any comments and opinions are greatly appreciated.

I wonder what the Dust, Haze, and Smoke icons would look like on this new set...

Dust didn't exist in the 2006-2010 set, so I highly doubt it will be on this set.

Martin or Aaron- Did you happen to get that video of Stephanie showing the XL icons?

Actually it did, it also doubled as a "Smoke Icon".

I though this was smoke

That Atlanta video showed conditions/forecasts for a lot of different cities (if I recall right Atlanta, Dunwoody, College Park, Athens, and Marietta). Are there other areas that show so many cities?
The new ldl support more cities than the old one

I don't recognize the source. :P

Shouldn't they have asked your permission to use some of the images, or are they in the clear because they cited their source?
Not our images in the first place actually :P They cited us so that makes me happy
