Personally I think if we are going to all two-line badges, the special groups should be a defined different color (maybe red instead of blue?).
I would like to see this
I would like to see a sample too

TWC might want to look ahead to prepare people for possibly another round of severe weather, which I already can see ahead late this week into the weekend for the Southeast.  They can only dwell on past tragedies for so long.
Thursday looks interesting

So Weather Center tonight consisted of the following:

- A taped replay showing off Dr. Forbes saying the tornado would be bad
- Interview of a dumb couple who actually argued about what to do in the tornado
- Replays of the same footage and scenes of the tornado over and over again
- More repeats of stories and info by Jim Cantore
- About 5min of actual weather forecasts
- No live weather coverage

I'll just assume the severe thunderstorm warnings over my area did not merit a single mention. ;)

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: ATT U-Verse and STARs...
« on: April 25, 2010, 09:16:05 PM »
And the responses you got there is exactly why they don't have a STAR. Its a luxury item that not many people are going to use. Lets face it. Besides most of the folks at this forum, few people could give a crap if the local forecast on the weather channel looked like a powerpoint or some flashy STAR.

Wow, those people there are rude and helpless. It would be nice to see a LOT8s on U-Verse though. AFAIK, no locations have it.
They don't get that they are important pieces of cable equipment. What is the catch to U-Verse? They brain wash them? They make it to where no one can accept innovation
Its a 5k hunk of equipment that tells people the weather with fancy graphics and a voice. They already have a cheap universal solution. I wouldn't call it important.

Lets face it. You hear a tornado is about to hit your town. You can turn to TWC, which is useless in reporting these conditions and has to cover the entire US, or you can turn to your local news which is guaranteed to have coverage for your area by people who know the area and its weather arguably better than those at TWC reading the warnings on a paper, pointing at a map, and showing video with people sobbing. TWC is not reliable for most folks in emergency weather situations so a STAR for an alert scroll isnt really logical either.

Yazoo City, Mississippi was hit very hard. 4 fatalities there.  :( Has the tornado damage there been given an EF-Scale rating, yet?
EF3 I believe with a 1.5 mile wide path!

As a last resort i Got a Reply from Comcast Cable Vice President of Eastern Massachusetts Doreen Vigue,

Hi Alex,
Thank you for contacting me.

We originally planned to launch those new HD channels on 4/21, but it was delayed because of some unforeseen technical issues. We have resolved the issue and have made all efforts necessary to get those additional channels launched by 4/28. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best Regards,
Doreen

Glad he responded :) Nice, the 28th is almost here

Hello, I know Martin thanks to Twitter, but I don't know the rest of you. :)

You can call me tenkitsune or Cloud. I am almost a Sophomore in college. I am majoring in Physical Science and possibly minoring in Journalism, mainly broadcast. I, too, am interested in becoming a meteorologist. I plan on going to Graduate school for meteorology, but I suppose my physics classes next semester will help me decide if I'm keeping my major. I'm very interested in the weather around us. I've always wanted to be the person telling everyone to get down if there's a tornado. I really don't know why. :P
But other than that, I like to play video games and attempt to play guitar. And that's me. So, hello TWC Today people! :D
Hey buddy! Great to see you here :) Hope all is well with you

« on: April 25, 2010, 02:58:14 PM »
Thank you all for your birthday wishes and concern. I got a couple of nice gifts, and I got to spend a lot time with friends and family. In regards to the loss of my father, it has been very sad and I do miss him a lot. But I have stayed strong the past couple of months, and all my recent experiences, both bad and good, are transforming me to be a better, stronger individual. And I know some of you here have also lost a loved one, so I know that I'm not alone, and my sympathy goes out to everyone that has recently lost someone to dear to them (especially the folks in Yazoo City, MS, where an anticipated EF4 tornado roared through).
Strong words! I felt the same when I lost my father. I am glad you had a good time with family and friends :)

Do you think you can switch to weather.com instead? Airports are pretty sparse, especially in the midwest. There aren't any here in Marlton.
Sadly not at this time. This was the easiest solution at the moment but I can look into changes.

The icons are messed up at the moment. My fault on that one. I will be working and tweaking them

At least TWC is smart enough to pre-empt long-form programming when there is a serious tornado outbreak like this. :hammer:
Good thinking TWC. ;)

Kind of quiet right now, but perhaps some thundershowers tomorrow. Wish SPC would extend the slight risk north....:(
I am a little surprised it hasn't extended a little
