TWC and your Cable Company / Re: TWC No Audio
« on: August 02, 2012, 11:40:56 PM »
Thanks for the advice, Martin. I knew from the beginning that this audio outage problem was on TWC's end.

No, the problem is with your local headend, not with The Weather Channel.
yes sorry for any confusion. I meant the problem is most likely at your cable company (aka headend) not TWC. TWC signal is distributed to headends over a satellite feed that rarely has issues. Receiving that signal is where things go wrong since there is a lot of equipment involved. When you see a local ad for your area, your cable company is actually injecting that overtop of the TWC    feed which may be airing some other national ad. Many people notice this when the ad injections dont match up quite right and the first couple seconds of an ad appear before being cut off for a local one.

In any case see if the issue is resolved tomorrow and if not call up your cable company. Usually something as big as that is fixed pretty fast.

I kinda miss the sharper and vivid colors that debuted when the HD studio came online. Everything is starting to look bland and mushy. It looks nice but not much variety

I hope someone here who is experienced might help me with this dilemma...

My Pinnacle USB tuner stick came in the mail today. While trying it out on my laptop with Windows 7, I ran into a brick wall. I installed Pinnacle TVCenter on my laptop, plugged in my coax (with Charter Limited Basic Cable) into the tuner USB stick, then scanned for channels using TVCenter, and so far no channels from either ClearQAM or Analog have came through. Did I screw something up, or does this tuner usually take forever to scan for channels?

If none of this seems clear to you, let me know and I'll try to explain this further and clearer if needed.
I had a Pinnacle device some time ago. It would take a while to scan. Try restarting a couple times

Problem at your headend. If you are getting local ad audio yet no national ads or TWC audio its an issue on their end. I would contact your cable provider. Posting the issue in our STAR support area might be required if the problem continues to persist.

If this area of low pressure were to develop in to something, we could have Ernesto soon. Here are the spaghetti models:

Fond memories with the last Ernesto in 06.

Its called The Weather Channel  It is one of the most significant droughts in some time although the amount of people it affects considering urban vs rural environments is probably less that in past droughts

I saw her today on our Accuweather/W-I-Z TV channel (Formally NBC WeatherPlus)

Samantha Mohr (Accuweather W-I-Z TV Channel) 7/21/2012

Interesting that they use the NBC chime for their extended forecast

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Re: Weather app
« on: July 21, 2012, 09:35:10 PM »
Could the weather app be disabled in the meantime if possible? Since it doesn't look like we have an immediate solution to this and I think it's just weird having the app sit like this with no data...
I've uninstalled the weather mod at this time, but I have left it in our downloaded mod packages in case Martin finds a solution and wants to reinstall it.
Unfortunately in doing this we lost all of the customizations I did for the mod. I may have had a solution to get data from another source but until I can work on redoing the custom modifications I had up before it will be some time before anything happens. It turns out the changes the NWS did affected a lot of scripts so we aren't the only ones with problems. It just unfortunate that its an unsupported project

Any luck with finding a replacement for HamWeather, Martin?  I'm guessing there isn't anything readily available.  I saw that TWC's website allows anyone to make widgets to add to a website.
Right, but in the forum's case, it would need to be done via PHP coding, and unfortunately, it costs $20/month just to use TWC's raw XML data now ever since their "new" API launched. <_<
I found a way to get the same data we had just from a different route. The changes I did over the past few days have been unfortunately removed but the progress was slow to begin with. I'm actively searching for a new system so if you see anything or have any ideas please share :)
