Local Forecast / Re: New Intellistar version?
« on: May 24, 2010, 01:50:51 PM »
The topic was actually the reason I asked because I doubt many ISs nationwide would all be going out for nothing unless TWC's doing some sort of maintenance on them.
Then why did you say it was off topic? It clearly was and did not have any relevance to this topic. You doubt many systems would go out nationally for nothing? Outages and systems issues are not unheard of. Warnings will be issued for future off topic activity.

Everything Else TWC / Re: Great Article in the NY Times

"Great article" and "NY Times." Now there's an oxymoron, if I ever heard one!
Haha I was tempted to say something similar :P
The Ratings will drop soon enough anyway, (most likely a temporary jump) i don't really see the point of putting movies on twc as a $$$ maker.
How do you not see that?  It says it right in that article.  People are warming up to it.  Sad, but true.

LocalOnThe8's-- How can you say ratings would be good without all of this junk?  You don't know that for sure.  According to this article, one would think (TWC Execs.) that all of the long-form programming is bringing in more viewers.

Just like no one below the age of 13 is allowed on Facebook...but I have many friends on there that are under that limit. As others have said, it's only enforced if it's legally forced.
Back in the day... When Myspace became popular there was an age limit of 18 so most of my friends and myself signed up as 18. No age limit is going to significantly impact a younger groups participation of something online if they are determined and its not enforced

This is off topic, but what's been with all the IS outages recently? :dunno: And could the Satellite ISs be effected?
You have been making a lot of off topic posts lately. Please be mindful of this and post in the right area. Your post here resulted in many posts that were off topic and completely irrelevant of the topics original subject

Dear Earth, why?  5.3 earthquake just 10 min ago here. It's really getting annoying. The only place that suffered minor damage is my room. I officially lost my mirrors, I lost 4 of them during the 7.2 quake and just lost the remaining last one. >_<

To be completely honest, to me it felt like a 6, but it's probably because I'm sleepy.
Ouch that sucks. Be safe out there

You know, that will cut use and traffic.
BTW, that article is 3 years old.
Which further supports my claim that they wont enforce it unless they have to. Its just there so they can protect themselves in legal action.

You all ask why TWC shows movies, news and non-weather programming? This quote sums it up
Quote
The channel’s ratings are up, at least on a total day basis, with 284,000 viewers watching at any given time this year, up from 231,000 last year and 271,000 in 2008.

While I feel sorry for the DISH users out there who will lose TWC, I also think (maybe not, though) it teaches TWC/NBC/whoever a lesson. Funny that they are cancelling the movie tonight, too. Do you know why, Martin? :dunno:
Trying to suck up ti DISH probably ;)
Severe weather is the obvious reason, but there has to be another.
Its this little thing called $$$$$

Well it should've been more specific...as the majority thought it was the hardware
What do you mean specific? There was never even a rumor of new hardware so that is news to me. However like I said, the current hardware version of the Intellistar now, probably has seen the last of its significant updates

That's right, according to this article here Google and it's service will disable access to anyone under 18 soon because a binding contract has to be formed. Full article here: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13739_3-9902548-46.html

Technically I see their point. However many other services require (well at least tell you) that you need parental consent and sometimes even make your parents authorize an account. Just a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo to protect themselves in court. Google wont enforce it unless they are forced to legally.
