During the 11:30 AM ET segment of DP, they showed an old Projected Path graphic with hurricane watches and warnings on the Florida east coast (the path looked like it was from Andrew in 1992, I think). Heather quickly skipped by the graphic after realizing that it wasn't the correct graphic.

That was too funny, here's the pics.
Wow I am surprised that actually made it on air!

Staying cooler in my area now that an ULL is just spinning right off the coast for us. We could really use a bit of rain for VA

:offtopic:

A downside to having this new weather.com as a BETA is that it does not seem like it is around-the-clock fully updated. Oh well, I can be patient for 8-9 more days. :P
You sure? It seems to be updating fine for me

Wow...it sure seems like this developed into something fast. :o This is kind of another scary situation to think about what this really could evolve into if it had more water space to intensify.
Still poorly organized. Its barely going to reach TS status. Breezy conditions and rain mostly

Weather underground is very inaccurate, I don't trust it at all. I only use TWC and sometimes NWS and AccuWeather.
Its the exact same thing as the NWS when it comes to forecasts. Wunderground is the best place for local conditions. Their network of personal weather stations is huge! Of course you have to watch out for the occasional station that goes a bit wonky but you can easily select NWS/ASOS stations. Plus remember that most PWS update every few seconds. NWS stations take much longer to update unless you call an ASOS station. Ive found thats the fastest way to get an official update especially when the precip type matters like in the winter. The phone obs update every min or so.

So is "Weather Center with Cantore and Steele" now no longer true? :dunno: I know this question may have come out of nowhere, but now it looks like Chris is the permanent new guy with Alexandra.
Chris just replaced Kevin Robinson. Jim is shooting Cantore Stories today

Speaking of WC, what happened to Where Am I and the Top 5?
They kinda have a top 5 once in a while. It lost its appeal I guess. You can only keep it up so long and have people interested.

Yep. TS warnings up. Looks like it should barely reach TS status before making landfall a bit north where Alex came ashore

TWC Today News / Re: Profile Modifications
« on: July 07, 2010, 10:59:08 PM »
Hey Tyler... I noticed that when you can select your STAR in your profile. you have the IntelliStar 2 and the regular IntelliStar. I thought I read something on some other forums on the internet that if the company has TWC HD, they need to Intellistar 2 (That is, if I read your post correctly). So, how would that work if people had both? (And it may have been dslreports.com).
I have no idea what you are asking

I think he's saying that, because you must select your STAR from a list, you can only select one and when the IntelliSTAR 2 comes out, there may be some people with a regular IntelliSTAR AND an IntelliSTAR 2. Since the IS2 is not out yet, we really don't need to worry about this issue yet. ;)
yes I believe that was the intent for now.

If you could provide the approximate time I can see if I can look it up

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
800 PM EDT WED JUL 7 2010

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

1. A LARGE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LOCATED ABOUT 290 MILES SOUTHEAST OF THE
TEXAS/MEXICO BORDER IS MOVING WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH.
THIS SYSTEM HAS BECOME MUCH BETTER ORGANIZED THIS AFTERNOON AND
EVENING...AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY HAS BECOME MORE CONCENTRATED
NEAR THE CENTER. TWO NOAA RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT ARE CURRENTLY
CONDUCTING A RESEARCH MISSION IN AND AROUND THE DISTURBANCE...AND
INFORMATION RECEIVED SO FAR SUGGESTS THAT A TROPICAL DEPRESSION MAY
BE FORMING. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS ARE CONDUCIVE FOR FURTHER
DEVELOPMENT AND IF ADDITIONAL ORGANIZATION CONTINUES...THEN
FORECAST ADVISORIES WILL BE INITIATED LATER TONIGHT OR THURSDAY
MORNING...WHICH WOULD REQUIRE THAT TROPICAL STORM WATCHES OR
WARNINGS BE ISSUED FOR PORTIONS OF THE COASTAL REGIONS OF CENTRAL
AND LOWER TEXAS AND NORTHEASTERN MEXICO. THERE IS A HIGH
CHANCE...80 PERCENT...OF THIS SYSTEM BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE.
THIS DISTURBANCE IS FORECAST TO BRING LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS AND GUSTY
WINDS TO PORTIONS OF EASTERN AND SOUTHERN TEXAS AND NORTHEASTERN
MEXICO OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.
