It sure didn't look like it around my area.  Everything seemed dead when I went to work on Sunday and Labor Day.  I get the feeling my own wacky schedule is starting to affect me in how I view things these days. :(
Its Blacksburg :P

I'd hate to be a female OCM. Way too many stalkers. Just look at their Facebook pages. Yikes. There are some messed up people in this world

I hate it that summer is nearly over. :(
:( :(

I start class tomorrow. I just moved in earlier today and am just chillin' in my room. Unfortunately, it's pouring cats and dogs outside so I couldn't venture out much today.
Sounds like the perfect time to venture out to me :P

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Re: LAT48s 2012
« on: September 05, 2012, 01:44:07 AM »
Yeah, I would have to agree with you on the situation, Martin   The autumn equinox is on a Saturday, but I imagine people will have a lot on their hands when it comes to school, despite that it's on a weekend. Maybe we could reschedule the LAT48s to a new date that might seem more convenient for everyone else here, like on another weekend or maybe a holiday? What do you suggest?

I would suggest this weekend because school is just starting and most members won't have alot of workload at the beginning.
I'm already pretty much loaded up from a couple of weeks. Hopefully the rest of you aren't :)

IMO, I think it would be better to hold it off until around the Winter solstice.. that way not as many of us are busy with school. While the autumnal equinox is on a Saturday, I don't think it'd be a day I could remember to do it
I tend to agree. Its not a done deal so keep sending in suggestions and comments B) I remember the Halloween one we did a few years back was cool!

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

Overall, I was impressed with TWC's coverage on Isaac. However, I did not like seeing commercial breaks every 5 minutes, got very annoying.
These events are TWCs prime money generators where the most people tune in. Its just part of the business. Plus doing a live show is pretty hectic. They need a break just to keep things going.

Lets see how many people can participate. September is always rough with school starting and in session for most

Hurricane Central / Re: Hurricane Leslie
« on: September 04, 2012, 02:45:49 AM »
The center of Leslie was being exposed due to the shear a couple days ago.  It has held together and will try to become a hurricane over the next couple days.  Winds are at 65 mph, and it's expected to move slowly northward toward Bermuda and bring some good surf for the East Coast.  None of the models show a landfall over the United States as a trough will keep it offshore.

While not a landfall, the Euro had a decent sized storm with impressive winds onshore. Doubtful but still intriguing.

What a waste of a name. There has been some debate in the weather community over if this thing even deserves to get named.

Hope all of you had a good Labor Day break.  I didn't have any days off this holiday weekend.  It just shows how different life can be for me compared to many other people.  For those of you starting school, good luck with everything.
Most people I know had to work yesterday. With the exception of schools and non essential government jobs it seems to be a forgotten holiday.

I was emailing with a salesman from a used cable headend equipment recycling place, and they're willing to give me a WeatherStar JR (however with no keyboard) for $390 plus $22 shipping... Even half that is way too much.
$50 is generous for those machines.

I've used Chrome since 2010, never going back.

Wise choice! :)

I also jumped on the Chrome bandwagon about a year ago on my laptop. However, I remain with IE 6 on my desktop.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Andrew making landfall over Florida.  I can still remember watching it all happen on TWC when I was a kid.
Still amazing that the first storm of the season was such a monster. On the bright side it helped improve a lot of building codes throughout FL so they are fairly prepared for future canes
