Local Forecast / Requesting Help With Finding A Song
« on: August 18, 2010, 10:48:58 PM »
Before posting a request please visit our extensive music database on the TWC Today website at https://twctodayforums.com/index.php?page=music/monthly Many songs have been neatly organized and posted there. It is a fantastic resource!!

When asking for help in identifying a song you ehard on the LF (be it past or present-I'll be putting this in the current LF board as well) there are a few things to remember:

-Telling us the specific time a song played is often not helpful, because we don't watch every Local Forecast! If your posting in the current LF music board its marginally helpful there because we can at least determine which daypart playlist the song is on.

-Always include a clip (video or audio) of the song your after if you have one, no matter the quality of the clip. Most of the time this will result in identification.

-If you have no clip, there are some things you can tell us that would help greatly in ID'ing a song. For instance, tell us what instruments were used in the song (piano, guitar, sax, etc.), the tempo of the song (fast, medium, slow), and the style of the song (rock, jazz, new age, and so forth).

-And finally please tell us the month and year the song played (especially important if your posting in the classic board).

No identification request is ignored here, but those with insufficient information likely won't be figured out.

So I started school today.. Looks like yet another crappy and lonely year again.. I always wonder how and why my schedules are always made to where I'm never with my friends.   :(
Wait until college! Why don't you make new friends?

Well, it looks like weather.com is no longer in beta. I will admit that I'm a little disappointed, though, because it looks like the 10-day and a few other pages will NOT be updated from how they looked on the old site. <_<
Its a step in the right direction at least. A bit disappointing considering as much resources as TWC had.

the graphics are red for breaking news and continuing coverage i would say if storm alert does still exist they will change the name from continuing coverage to Storm Alert at the banner insted of breaking news/continuing coverage and the red studio lights like for Gustav/Ike so we will have to wait and see i messaged some of the people at twc and some said Storm Alert was going to happen and some said weather or not we are in storm alert the coverage will be the same wall to wall for land falls we might find out in a week or 2 like i said

......then we shall find out whenever a major hurricane makes landfall somewhere. I'd say it's too soon to tell.

Lets send a Cat 5 to El Centro and find out :P

General Discussion / Re: Dish Network: I *may* get it...

"if Dish was or only option"

I hate BHN anyways. TWC isnt on basic and you get less than 50 HD channels <_<
Now I get it. WOW!'s like that too with the HD channels around here. I just want TWC HD! And WOW! doesn't carry Weatherscan either. Is there any other cable operators around there?

Most areas have one cable company per region. FIOS/UVERSE not counted.

For a smaller cable company thats not bad
So, today, my parents were "in the talks" of switching satellite providers. Switching... as in switching from DirecTV to Dish Network. I'm very mixed about it. But it could give our budget a break.

I'll be a bit explicit here. I pay more than $200 a month for satellite TV. We don't have HBO/Showtime/Starz, nor we signed up for any event. (Heck, we don't even do Pay Per View ). My dad has his stupid Sports Pack which is pointless to watch sometimes, and my mom has the 400's (the exclusive Spanish channels). We don't have HD either. Me? I only care for the following: TWC, ESPN, CurrentTV, the music channels, and Food Network. :P

It could be good for me, because it's my chance to get TWC in HD. Two of the house's TV's can do HD.

My questions are: How is Dish Network (in terms of service, and in general)? Are the HD channels good? What about the DVRs? Is the price for the basic package worth it? I'm also looking for opinions from some of you guys since I know plenty of you have Dish.

I could get it by the end of next month. (Maaaaaybe. :P)
Ok what the heck are you getting to get your bill to over $200 a month??? You must be signed up for something thats eating into your bill. Do you have a gazillion DVRs or something? You should look at your bill and find out what is costing you an extra 100 bucks or so.

I think some advertising on my blogsite pretty much helped as well. ;)
We will take all the free publicity you or anyone else would like to share!

If your friends are interested in weather invite them to stop in as well!

I think something is wrong with my car's engine. Last year, my muffler/exhaust went and I had to replace it. Now this year it seems to be going again, as the engine is loud and making popping sounds whenever I accelerate. Last Saturday, the check engine light was on, but it went off after a few hours and I don't think that had to do with this (but rather with the gas cap which I also need to replace). Any ideas? I don't want to have to replace my exhaust again, as it cost almost $1,000 to get it replaced last year. I have a '97 Camry V6, with 129,000 miles on it. It's only been about 10,000 miles since I installed the current exhaust system on it.
Yikes that doesn't sound good!

Went to a concert last night with Brooks and Dunn and Sara Evans. Awesome awesome show! :D

And Lightning Rod continues to hang in the balance... It's the show that will never air. lol :(
Shows you how bureaucratic TWC has become. Its like the government. Shows get caught up in focus testing, etc rather than getting actual air time to prove itself.

I would rather this be its own show. But is it just going to be two people talking (like tonight), or will it have some "action"? :dunno:

P.S. Is this chat all about TWC or just about Lightning Rod in general? Because if it is a LR chat, why would someone be asking what LOT8s is?
You always get nuts when doing anything regarding network tv. Amazing some of the things you see people posting to the OCM FB pages for example. I don't get why its a segment now after they put so much work and effort into it.

This has little room to develop, like most of the systems we have had this year

The XL used to have a blue alert scroll to mention lake levels I believe. Perhaps a similar idea could be applied to this.

Probably the biggest factor that will prevent this feature from coming to light.... Nobody cares about the river stages until they begin to affect peoples lives. At that point there is a good chance the NWS has issued some advisory on the subject already.  Thus an alert and/or scroll would probably already be showing up
