Winds remain at 135 mph as of 5 PM, and the pressure is 942 mb.  A tropical storm watch is now in effect for Bermuda.

TS watch? I thought they were just under a Hurricane Watch? Were they downgraded?
They way TWC hyped it you might have gotten that impression. Not sure why they chose to harp Bermuda for this. Guess they wanted to keep interest up for a fish storm.

Do they do this during long form programming now too?

nope, The HD LDL is still present during long form programming.
To back up on why it appears on long form still: Shows produced in HD after SS's 2009 reappearance have L3rds displaying text in non 4:3-safe areas  ;)
Really? Thats just stupid

This will be more of a potential to make US landfall
Actually its already a bit further north than ideal for a US landfall.
Still, there's a chance that they could curve away from the U.S (if the pattern doesn't change, which is unlikely)
There are so many variables and models are just starting to latch onto this one. Its safe to say it could do anything
And even after that there's still more systems in Africa that will need to be closely monitored. It would be something if a place got hit by 3 or 4 hurricanes all in about 3-4 weeks.  :P
More in the tube last time i looked at the sat

Some models have exploded this storms intensity but we all know how accurate intensity forecasts are. For now my best guess would be a curve hitting Bermuda or going in between but its all dependent on this ridge. Its certainly one storm folks will want to stay on top of

I wonder how the beta is going, things have been very quiet lately.
I kind of expected we weren't going to see much happen very quickly

OCMs & Personalities / Re: Attempt at perspective

Probably to grab more viewers, or to get fresh, new personalities so by the time all of the older OCMs are gone the newer ones feel more at home. I could be wrong though.
Yep and NBC is making TWC with more of their image and people

The reason that pin is placed by default in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean just beneath the African coast is because that's where the latitude and longitude is exactly zero.  When you move a pin to your location, you're actually putting in a latitude and longitude.
Correct

Only 3 of the OCMs that left did so under their own authority as far as I am aware. TWC was under pressure to downsize and become more efficient after NBC bought them. NBC realized they cut too many people and have begun rehiring some OCMs. As many companies do they are slowly replacing some of the older OCMs in favor of choosing their own people for the job. So at first it was for economic reasons and now its more for image and management purposes in my opinion
