Wow so Jim is actually going to Bermuda. Surprised TWC would bother

Well a major hurricane is heading their way and I think they have done that before. (having someone report from Bermuda)
Yes its happened before but its never been a priority for TWC. Even more so since this is happening on a weekend

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: DirecTV/TWC Volume Issue?
« on: September 14, 2010, 03:04:22 AM »
For some reason, with my HD DVR DirecTV reciever, TWC has to be at 30 dBz., when all other channels have to be at no more than 15 dBzs. (Saying that TWC is VERY quiet.) This is only on our HD DVR, but our DVR reciever and our regular reciever have no problem. If you have DirecTV HD DVR, please post if this is happening to you. I am 100% sure it is not the TV, unless the TV hates TWC (it only happens on TWC)  :P
Some TVs and DVRs ( I think) have volume equalizers that adjust the high and low volume levels to make it more convenient.  Do you know if your devices do this?

General Discussion / Re: Anyone have Virgin Mobile?
« on: September 14, 2010, 02:56:18 AM »
Curious.... what type of phone are you looking for? Smart phone? Flip phone? Having web service is really a waste unless you get a phone that can handle it properly.

If you don't want to pay $50 a month, you can pay $2 a day for unlimited service. Or maybe these: $.10 a min/text message, $.35 a day for web, $1 a day for walkie talkie.
Doesn't that cost more than than the monthly plan?

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: IntelliStar 2 Beta Launch
« on: September 14, 2010, 02:51:42 AM »
Ok, I've been confused all this time? So if an IS2 is installed, would you be able to watch it on the SD channel or HD channel? And does it replace the original IntelliStar, (like how an XL replaces a 4000...)? Sorry about my misunderstanding.
STARs dont replace STARs unless a headend upgraded to the next generation
I know what you meant but thats confusing how you worded it. An Intellistar will not be replaced by an Intellistar2. The SD unit wont be replaced until TWC develops a new SD system.

Hurricane Central / Re: Tropical Storm Julia
« on: September 14, 2010, 02:46:44 AM »
The NHC's track for Julia is kinda weird to me, it's most likely gonna go OTS, but at Day 5 it looks like it's moving west.
I believe the ridge is shifting but I haven't looked at the latest models. Latest NHC track has it re curving at the end to the north Atlantic anyway

. A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE NORTHWEST CARIBBEAN SEA IS
PRODUCING DISORGANIZED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.  THIS SYSTEM IS
EXPECTED TO MOVE WESTWARD TO WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH
OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS...AND IT HAS SOME POTENTIAL FOR
DEVELOPMENT BEFORE IT MOVES INLAND OVER THE YUCATAN PENINSULA BY
WEDNESDAY EVENING.  THERE IS A MEDIUM CHANCE...40 PERCENT...OF THIS
SYSTEM BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
REGARDLESS OF DEVELOPMENT... LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL IS POSSIBLE
OVER PORTIONS OF HAITI... JAMAICA...CUBA...THE CAYMAN ISLANDS...AND
THE YUCATAN PENINSULA DURING THE NEXT DAY OR TWO.  THESE RAINS
COULD CAUSE LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODS AND MUD SLIDES...
ESPECIALLY IN AREAS OF MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN.

Hmm someone at your head end must have switched the feed. If you want to speculate it could be a transition as they hook up an HD local forecast unit for your area. More than likely some technical problem. If the problem continues to persist please report it here ;)
